23-2-2009 - Doctor Ultrasound OkayMy mood while writing this blog:
Okay

Well, we just had our last ultrasound last Wednesday, February 18th. It should be our last one unless there is a medical reason to need another one. Eveything still looks great! Development all appears to be normal and we're still having a boy! (It was nice to have double confirmation of that, just in case one of the ultrasound readings may have been wrong.) The ultrasound took about 15 minutes and about halfway through I started getting light-headed and really hot! Apparently, little baby boy was pushing down on a much needed blood supply somewhere! As soon as the ultrasound tech told me to turn over onto my side, I felt much better! We got to see his little heart beat, hands, feet, spine, etc. All amazing! But, the funniest thing was his position! He had one leg stretched out in front of him, the other leg was straight up like he was trying to reach his head with it, and his little arms were tucked behind his head in a lounging position! Just chillin'. I don't know how he could have been comfortable with his little legs like that!!

I was glad to know everything still looks very normal, particularly since we had the abnormal quad screen results. The doctors said our risk for downs syndrome went down considerably with the normal ultrasound results. However, he also told me for the first time at this last appointment that my hCG levels were a little higher than normal in the quad screen, so they will be watching for problems associated with that later on in my pregnancy. Starting at 32 weeks I'll need to go in weekly for non-stress tests, just to make sure my placenta and amnio fluid are doing what they're supposed to be doing.

As far as weight goes, I've gained around 20 pounds already! I'm going to Jazzercise three times a week and plan to go for more walks once the weather starts warming up. Hopefully, that will keep my weight under control. I definitely have a baby bump and it's almost impossible to NOT notice that I'm pregnant these days! I haven't had too many cravings recently. I always like a good bowl of cereal and the combination of tomato sauce with onions is my nemesis!!

I've been feeling the baby move around a lot in the last few weeks. Some days he's very active and moves every few hours! I was so happy, because my husband finally felt him really well the other night. The baby was moving all over the place! He said it was a really weird feeling and the reality of it all is starting to finally sink in!

We have been procrastinating badly and haven't purchased any "big" baby items yet. Hopefully, we'll try to get a crib and dresser in the next two to three weeks. I also need to make plans for the baby's room, since it is currently just an empty spare bedroom right now! I'm hoping to have several of our "big" purchases/projects out of the way within the next two months. We'll see how that goes!

Anyway, all for now! Time is flying by!
