09-3-2009 - Doctors Appointment, High blood pressure

Hello ladies,

I had my doctors appointment this morning and i didnt get to hear the heartbeat . We didnt get around to it as she did my blood pressure 3 times (they have the automatic machines now) while we chatted about things and then she said im sending a blood pressure machine home with you as you have high blood pressure, i knew something was up as they normally dont do the blood pressure 3 times so i looked at the machine and it said 152/118 and she said that was the lowest and the highest reading she took was 160/126, my blood pressure was normally around 120/80, ive never had blood pressure problems before, with my other pregnancies toward the end the top reading may have risen a bit but its the bottom one that they really worry about, i also had some keytones in my urine but nothing serious. So i have to have another blood and urine test this afternoon and i am booked in for a ultrasound on monday she wants to make sure there is only 1 baby as twins run in my hubbys side and twins might cause the blood pressure to be up and to confirm my due date. I saw a different doctor this time and she said the other doc should have sent me for a scan to confirm my dates last time. So i have to do my blood pressure 3 times a day and write it down and i have to go back next week to be checked. I have to try and be stress free and take it easy, thats easier said then done with 4 boys. So i will update again on monday after my scan, im very excited and scared at the same time, twins would be awesome but a huge shock!

When I was 9 weeks pregnant with my second....I got really sick and went to the ER and my blood pressure was right at those levels....170s' over 115s They told me to see my doctor about it...LOL So I did like 2 days later and it was the same.....(they made sure to check it manually because some times those machines suck) He said I had PIH and put me on blood pressure medicine that I took the entire pregnancy. But even on that medicine....I was still like 140s over low 90s As soon as he was born......blood pressure was fine again...LOL Its so weird.

Sweetie, ever thought it could be just when you are in your doctors? I have heard it can happen. Keep relaxed, and stress free (i know, easier said than done)

Also invest in a doppler from ebay, I absolutely love mine, and gives you peace of mind ;o)

Wow, your blood pressure is definitely high. I know its easier said than done, but, try to rest as much as possible. I had high blood pressure with my first and they put me on strict bed rest for a month. You are in my prayers....I'm looking forward to your update.

Wow that is high #'s. Didn't you say you were short of breath and such a few weeks ago? Maybe this has gone on for a while. Please rest and take care of yourself.Twins would be sooo cool!

Sorry you are having to go through this, but it sounds like they are being very safe. Try your best to put your feet up and rest as much as you can! Wow, twins would be so cool and a great surprise. Hang in there and I will be waiting for your update :-) Wishing you the best!

Wow that's a lot for you and hubby to take in. I agree twins would be a great blessing and definitely better than something being wrong. I hope everything is ok and keep us posted on your u/s and bp.

WOW! im sorry you gotta go through that I had the same thing with my pregnancies but not till later like around 32 weeks! after the first baby gave me such high BP my DR kept a good eye on me and I was in the hospital every week for testing and monitoring! uUUUUHHHHH it is so stressful and it will wear you out! good luck!

Oh hun sorry to hear your apt. didn't go as well as it could have. Twins would be wonderful! Hopefully you don't have trouble w/ your blood pressure through out your pregnancy I know how that can be I got toxemia when I was pregnant w/ my son and my blood pressure got so high I would get horrible headaches! So I am hoping you don't have to worry about that! Lets just hope your having twins! Well keep us updated I hope your able to get your BP down but I understand how chasing around 4 little guys must be im at my wits end just trying to keep up with one! haha good luck hun and keep us posted!

Twin would be very special, especially when you love your children so much. Twin girls would really top it off. I hope that your blood pressure does not get any higher and that you are able to find some time to rest.
