| 08-6-2009 - 1st postpartum week | My mood while writing this blog:happy, sore, sleepy |
Hi girls!! Hope you all are doing ok. Wow, a week ago today I gave birth. I thought I would take a oment to share some insight about the first week......
First off, use your babie's diapers as a pad for the first few days. Nothing else can hold that flow, trust me! Plus the hospital gives them to you for free, so if you use your babie's stash they will just give you more.
Just because you gave birth does not mean the contractions stop. OMG that part sucked, you keep having contractions (especialy when nursing) for the next few days, and they freakin hurt. I had to breathe through them just like I did when I was in labor!
Expect to feel wierd. I feel all floppy, like a rag doll that had my stuffing taken out. I am so use to walking, standing, sitting..everything with a big belly, and without it I don't know how to stand. Sounds funny huh? And where do you put your hands now that there is no big belly to rest them on? I'm also really sore, like an all over body ache. I didn't have a hard labor or have to push for long at all so I'm not sure where this came from.
Sweat. Lotts of sweat, especialy at night. I wake up drenched and have to flip my pillow over. I've read that it's your body's way of shedding water weight, but my goodness!
Boobies!! My milk came in on my 4th day and holly cow! I have breast implants to start with so you could imagine how huge they are now. I nurse every 2 hours but still end up pumping at least once a day to help relieve engorgement. I won't lie and say it doesn't suck getting up every two hours at night to feed, but it's so much fun to cuddle with her at night as she's nursing away.
Emotions. I am more emotional now than I was when I was pregnant. I have not gotten sad, just mushy. I never thought i would be able to experience this again so it's all so sweet to me. I'm litterly taking it all in as much as possible.
My hubby. Bless his heart, this is his first, and he is worried about every little thing. I am cautious not to tell him what to do or how to do it. I give him advice, but I'm letting him find his own ways of bonding with her. He has been great, if I tell him I'm hungry he runs downstairs and makes me whatever I want. He keeps me laughing, even when it hurts to laugh. It feels good to hug him, I'm use to a big belly being in the way. We went to the movies yesterday and had so much fun. I just brought my nursing cover and nursed her when she woke up, it was no biggie. We have been going for walks since day 4. I walk 2 miles on thetrak while my husband runs. It's great to get out and get some fresh air.
So many of my friends are due to give birth any day now, I can't wait to see your litle ones!!! I posted some new pictures of Yvette and posted pictures of my stomach. I hope to hear from you all soon!
