Write a new blog

My mood while writing this blog: glad to be home/sleep deprived |
Hi girls! Thank you for all of you sweet comments/messages. It feels so good to be back home. We went back to the hospital for a follow up a few hours ago. It seems that surgery is still in her future. She's on a new medication that should make her poop (murilax?), and if she has not gone by Monday we have to go back to the hospital. It was over a week ago that I helped her poop. It feels so crazy to say that I want to change poopy diapers! I just want her to be a normal happy healthy baby. One of her medications makes her completly out of it so she spends a lot of time sleeping. I miss her cooing and smiling. If I could give anyone advice out of this ordeal it would be this:if your baby is in the e.r. and requires an iv, have them call down one of the nicu nurses to do it. They are experts with tiny veins and are usualy much more gentle. Poor Yvette has 6 bruises on her (both hands, arms and 1 foot) from the e.r. nurses taking turns holding her down and trying to prove they could get an iv in a baby. It just isn't worth it. She's sleeping now so I have to pump so I can mix her medicine in it. I hope you all are doing well and enjoy the upcoming weekend :)
xoxo Jamie

Saturday, 22 Aug I know how you feel about these IV's. When Maya was born she spent the first 13 days of her life in the hospital. Some of it in NICU. She pulled out her IV's so many times in her feet & hands that they had to resort to putting the IV in her head. The first nurse to attempt putting the IV in, poked her head 3 times before we asked for them to send a NICU nurse to do it. expecting-2b-patient (Cheryl) -

Friday, 21 Aug Hang in there Jamie! I read your blog yesterday about what happened and was so sad. I'm glad to hear she has been able to avoid surgery so far, but sad to hear she will have to still go through that at a later time. I can't imagine how scared you were/are for your little one. I know how scared I was when my little one didn't poop for 2 days let alone what you are going through. Good luck with everything and keep us all posted on how things turn out. Your family is in my thoughts, take care! tysl -

Thursday, 20 Aug Aww Poor Baby. I Hope She Is Feeling Better Soon. I Know The Feeling As Far As The IV's. When My Oldest Child Who Is 12 Required To Be Hospitalized Due To RSV And Roto-Virus It Took The Nurses 8 Times To Get The IV In. They Kept Blowing His Veins. His Pedi Was Furious And Asked Why They Didn't Go For A Vein In The Head. Now When My Children Require IV's I Let Their Dad Stay In The Room With Them Because I Always Remember All The Pokes My Son Had To Go Through. I Think It Hurts Us More As A Mother Having To Watch Then Them Feeling The Pain.
