12-1-2012 - Baby #2

My mood while writing this blog:

I hadn't made a blog update yet, so I figured I might as well let everyone know that I'm back at I-A-P! We are officially expecting Baby #2! If you go by my LMP I'm around 5+ weeks, if you calculate my cycle length into it, it's closer to 4 weeks 5 days, so hopefully my dating scan next week will sort everything out.

My LMP was Dec 7th, I've got a 32 day cycle so I was expecting my period on Jan 8th. I felt really crampy and PMS on Jan 7th and sure enough, the 8th came and I started spotting. For a second there, I thought it was my period but then I noticed it was really brown and mucousy-- just like what happened when I was pregnant with Alexander. I decided to take a HPT and it was negative. I was by no means convinced. I told my husband what was going on and we agreed that if I wasn't properly bleeding by Day 3 of my supposed-cycle, we'd go buy another test first thing in the morning. Day 3 came along and I practically flew out of bed and went to the store having had no shower and no make-up on, and that's pretty damn rare if you know me! :)

I got a 3 pack of First Response dip-sticks and tried to convince myself to go have a nap so that my urine wouldn't be watered down since I peed when I first got up. I made it an entire hour of sitting there restlessly before I finally snuck off into the bathroom to POAS. I waited patiently while the pink colouration spread... At first glance it looked negative, but I the fact that I was completely SURE that I was pregnant gave me an extra boost of confidence and patience. Sure enough, a pale line started forming in the test window. Positive. :) From the day my period was due, really even before then, I *KNEW* I was pregnant. There was no convincing me otherwise. What a change from Alexander's pregnancy where I was seriously shocked and taken by surprise at the positive!

So I came out of the bathroom and couldn't stop smiling, I bit the insides of my cheeks and tried to put on a poker face. No such luck, as soon as my husband locked eyes with me, he said, "It's positive, isn't it? Hahah" so once again, I didn't get to tell my husband in a 'special' way... but that's okay. It feels more like team-work this way.

Congrats! I never got to surprise my hubby either! With my 1 yr old I was too excited, i called him squealing so loud he couldnt understand me! And with this one i took the test at 5am and couldnt wait to tell him either! Maybe next time! LOL!
