| 13-7-2012 - Elaina Ann is HERE! | My mood while writing this blog:Blessed |
Elaina Ann made her debut into the world on July 6, 2012 ( almost 39 weeks pregnant) just 3 days after her big sister turned 5 years old. She was born at 4:50pm, weighed 8 lbs even and 20 3/4 inches long. I was induced and chose to be induced because of my history and my doctor was going on vacation the next week and he has walked with me through each struggle and through this great miracle. Delivery was not bad at all. Pitocin was started around 7:30-8 that morning and unfortunately the hospital was swamped that morning with 5 inductions, 2 c sections and 2 labors. Not long after pitocin was started, Elaina started kinda going haywire. She was moving non stop in my belly as well as her heart rate went from the 130s to the 180s and that scared the nurses and doctor. The decision was made to stop pitocin and have me stay on my sides and use oxygen to try to help lower her heart rate. It was touch and go there for a while and we knew that it could possibly turn into an emergency c section if E's heart rate did not lower. This also allowed the staff to focus more on the other deliveries and get them done so that they could focus on me soley when and if it came time for me to delivery and I was kinda thankful for that. Her heart rate did finally lower and pitocin was started back up with me being 5 cms dilated. I did ask for an epidural after about 30 mins though because the pain was becoming very intense being that when they started it back up they turned it up. Within an hour was fully dilated and ready to push. 25 mins later, Elaina was born. Other than her heart rate issue, labor was not bad at all!!! As for Elaina, she is doing great! She is breastfeeding great and is eating every 3 to 4 hours and sleeping well. Big sister, Kinsley loves her baby sister and loves to help out. She is so excited to be a big sister and the hubby and I do our best to make sure she knows she is loved so much even though Elaina requires much attention right now.
OH....AND my sister delivered her sweet baby girl, Zoe Grace on July 10, 2012 with no pitocin and NO pain meds other than one vial of IV pain meds. GO GIRL!!! She weighed in 8lbs 9 ozs and born at 8:47am. So needless to say, grandparents are sooooo beyond the moon excited :)
