23-7-2008 - 38 Weeks Update

My mood while writing this blog: Ok

Well I managed to get to see the midwife luckily due to having to cancel my appointment tomorrow for my uncles funeral.

So so glad about that as my feet and ankles swelling has been on my mind, the midwife didn't seem too bothered though and said it looked like baby swelling and seeing as it was the last 2 weeks as long as no headaches other symptoms she was happy with me. I'm measuring 38 weeks exactly although she said she was shocked when she walked in how big I looked, but we put it down to the top I had on when I measured spot on. She kind of looked worried for a second, perhaps she thought i'd measure 43 weeks or something. It's a humid day here so I was in quite a skimpy top where the bump is clear to see.

She also told me that she goes on holiday the day after i'm due which I was kind of upset about as if baby doesn't come on time then she wont be around to do the membrane sweep if I go too far over. But at least I get one more meeting with her on my due date if i'm still waiting so we can organise the next plan of action if baby hasn't arrived by then. So apparently due date + 6 is when i'd have my first membrane sweep and if I could persuade them to do it then due date + 8 so 2 days later they'd do it again to avoid hopefully having to be induced.

I'd hoped for as natural labour as possible so being induced isn't really what I want and kind of got me all flustered thinking about it - but it's all in the hands of The Lord so who am I! :) we'll see what happens at the time. I've started taking rasperry leaf tea tablets today 2 tablets 3 times a day and evening primrose oil the same 2 tablets 3 times a day. Roll on labour Mummy & Daddy are ready and waiting to meet you little boy! xxxxxx
