| 21-8-2008 - ** UPDATE ** | My mood while writing this blog:Content |
It's been quite a while since I've updated last. My emotions are all over the place and I haven't had much energy or brain power to figure out how to put into words what has happened over the past 3 weeks. So, here goes........
I've been in the Labor & Delivery Unit 3 times over the past 3 weeks with early labor. Each time I'd been having contractions that were 4-6 minutes apart and lasted anywhere between 45 & 70 seconds.
- The first time they simply monitored me and decided the contractions were due to a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). They gave me meds and sent me home. I finished those meds and felt good for a couple days. Well that didn't last too long.
- The second time I landed in L&D they gave me a shot of Turbuteline to stop the contractions as I had already dialated to 1 cm. They monitored me and the drugs stopped the contractions so they sent me home.
- Then about a week later I ended up in L&D for the third time. This time I was dialated to 2 cm and they kept me over night. I got 2 shots of the Turbuteline and fluids. (Funny note: I got to L&D around dinner time and since Hubby and I hadn't eaten since noon they gave us box lunches. Hubby ate his and was fine. I took 2 bites into my sandwich and found a FLY...in a hospital sandwich. Yikes!!!)
My Midwife changed her mind after talking with the other midwives and decided NOT to change my due date. So I'm back to being due October 25th and that means I'm only 30 weeks. So it's a little un-nerving that Jacobi is trying to come already....but there is a lot of medical technology out there now and I trust God to keep him safe & healthy no matter how early he is born.
I lost my mucous plug on Monday night and am now playing the waiting game. Everyone in general feels that my water will break before next week.....we'll see. I'm on STRICT complete bedrest and am only allowed to leave bed to go to the bathroom. I'm happy to do what I can to keep this lil' man safe though!!
I also have Group B Strepp and am on Penecillin (sp) for that. I'll need to be treated for that when I go into labor.
I have three showers coming up before my due date that I'm not sure if I'll even be able to attend. We'll just have to wait and see what God has in store & when Jacobi decides to make his Grand Entrance!!!
