Okay, so I really haven't said anything, but I am starting to get a little worried about Nicholas's speech. He doesn't say the normal things a 1-year old would say, such as "mommy, daddy, puppy, bottle,no, ni-night, etc" he had started to babble "mamamama & dadadada" but hasn't really associated the words with Dan and I and said them in that sense. We know he understands what we are saying becuase he does follow simple directions & he does respond when we ask if he's hungry or wants to go outside, etc. I just wonder if he's just slow to talk or if there is something else. Do you think I have a reason to worry or should I just let it ride & see what happens? Thanks ladies! Love ya!

As of right now I wouldn't worry too much. He's the youngest right? This could just be his way of staying in the center of attention. Just keep working with him and it should be fine!!

My best friend's baby is 11 Months and she's not talking or associating things either. And she just started to crawl. In time they will pick it up. Another friends baby didn't talk until he was 15 months but he was walking at 8 months. While another one was talking at 8 months but not walking until she was 14 months! They are all different and will get it in their time. I think it's too soon to be concerned, just keep an eye on it!

Hey dear, dont worry, little Aisling doesnt say much either, at least not consistently. She will sometimes look at a cat and say "cat" but then when asked to say it again, doesn't..I am sure all is well dear :)

our son started talking at about 15 months.......everyone is diffrent sweetie, so do not worry..............just enjoy the magic while it lasts!

My niece is about 13months old and she doesnt talk or walk or even look like doing it in the near future. It may pay to have his hearing checked though if you are really worried about it. He may need grommets. Otherwise just keep talking to him and telling him the names of things. Read to him a lot and dont worry about it too much.

i wouldnt worry hun some kids r just slower at starting to talk than others

I wouldn't worry to much about it yet hun. My niece is 14 months and she just says Ba for about everything. Sometimes some speak a little sooner than others and others walk before others. LOL Kinda funny the way it happens. My first walked way before my second and she only said a few words and my second didn't walk til about 14 Months and she could speak really clear and knew more words. I am sure everything is fine. My niece is nearly 13 months and she doesn't say much either. She says dada and lots of other things but only really easy words. Your little one will speak more when he's ready, try not to worry

I was worried about my youngest son for a very long time! He didn't really talk & people said he was spoiled because my older children just gave him what he wanted & he didn't need to use words. Sometimes as he got older he seemed to forget what he had learned the days before. Not sure what his reason but when he was 3 yes 3 he took off like a rocket!! He is 6 now, going strong & no-one thinks he is behind the other kids. almost forgot all the worry now. Good luck!

my son NEVER baby babbled - he was such a silent baby other than laughing..
then one day out the blue while watching the scoobie doo movie when he was about 20months. he very clearly said.. 'thats not a lady thats scooby doo' and it was proper sentences form then.. i missed the mama dada stage out.. -
i think like my son... your son doesnt want to fill the air with nonsense!! now hes 7 of course - all he speaks is silly nonsense !
