My uncle passed away :( and we have to travel to Kansas City for the funeral. It will be a quick "down & back" trip. We will leave on Friday morning, the funeral is Saturday & we will drive home on SUnday. It is about a 7 hour drive from our home. Originally Dan encouraged me to leave Nicholas behind with him and just go with my family but I bawled my eyes out at the though of leaving my baby behind for 3 days. I finally decided that I am going to take him with (I hope I don't live to regret that). HELP!! I need suggestions to keep a 14 month old busy in the car for 14 hours this weekend.

sorry for you loss. ;-( we road trip alot. some things that really helped us were to pack a bunch of snacks in the mini tupperwares so we could just toss one back to my daughter. we also travel with kid cds, especially the lullaby ones. i reccomend leaving at night, it messes you up, but that way you know they are going to sleep in the car. best of luck to you....

Wow I'm sorry about your uncle.And I have traveled with my dd before.But the most 3-4 hrs.I sat in the back with her just in case she gets fussy,needs food or wants to play.I have a dvd player in my truck but also nursery songs she loves music,Pat-a-cake,if your happy.Toys with music.But what I noticed is Juliana(my 13mo) just loves looking out the window & ends up falling asleep.Hope your trip is un-eventful & that Nicholas sleeps all the way there.

So sorry to hear about your uncle. Wish your trip wasn't so quick though... you are only going to be 3 hours from me. UGH! Good luck with your car trip. The last trip we went on we bought Zayden one of those magnetic things that had the pen attached.... silly me, my mind just went blank on what it is called. Hmmmm.... Anyway, he drew and drew and drew for two hours straight. It amazed me! Maybe you could pick one up and try it out? Again, I am very sorry to hear about your uncle!
