| 22-7-2009 - how we got Owen to take his medicine (success!) |
My mood while writing this blog: relieved |
After many failed attempts at trying to get Owen to take his Zantac, including:
- administering it via syringe into the side of his cheek
- blowing on his face after squirting it into his cheek
- putting it in a bottle nipple
- mixing it with breastmilk and giving him a bottle
- sneaking it drop by drop onto my nipple as he was eating (this worked for as long as he ate and stayed awake, he never got the full dose)
we FINALLY found a method that worked, thanks to my friend who had the same issue with her boys...so I thought I would share just in case anyone else might benefit from it...
- Cut a small "X" in a bottle nipple (only to be used for this purpose)
- Fill the nipple with breastmilk
- Dip the nipple in breastmilk also
- Once he starts sucking on the nipple, squirt the medicine into it with the syringe
We are so happy to have found something that works!!
