12-5-2008 - More on Hailey and Charley

Before we left, I called the NICU to get an update on Hailey. Turns out she had by then been off oxygen completely for 24 hrs, was off her IV, eating nearly 25cc of milk, and had even taken 10cc by bottle! When asked, the nurses reccomended we stay put. Hailey would be well enough to return within just a few days, I needed o rest, and the doctors did not think it a good idea to travel yet with Charley. So, here we are still. I'm calling down there again in about 30 minutes to check on Hailey's progress. Today her level 2 NICU doctor and our pediatrician are going to discuss her options of being transported back here to the level 1 NICU. Don't know if she's ready yet, but hope it will be VERY soon! Charley is doing great at home. She sleeps between 3 and 4.5 hours at a time, and is up to eating about 3.5 oz (about 100cc) from a bottle, or a solid 30 minutes from the breast. She had trouble latching on at first (much to my agony, lol) but she's got it down pat now. My older children are home now, yay! They simply adore their sister, and can't wait to meet the other one.
