| 10-3-2010 - Miserably itchy | My mood while writing this blog:itchy!! |
I think it I have PUPPP. I have had a rash since November (about 8 weeks pregnant) and it started out as a really small spot on my back and another small spot on my lower belly. By January, it had spread a little bit. In February, it exploded. I have seen 4 doctors since January. The first doctor (my obgyn) didn't think it was pregnancy related since it was localized. He said that if it were pregnancy related, it would be systemic. When I called back in February after it was getting worse, they sent me back to women's health to a nurse practitioner and she didn't think it was pregnancy related and told me I need to see my primary care doctor. She didn't think it was PUPPP because it didn't look like it. By this point I was miserable and they told me to use Benadryl cream and take Benadryl at night. It wasn't helping at all. So I saw my primary care doctor, and he didn't know what it was, so he took pictures and sent the pictures to a dermatologist, and prescribed a small tube of corticosteroid cream, which I went through in about 2 days. He gave me a refill and made me an appointment with the dermatologist. I saw the dermatologist on February 26 and they did a skin biopsy in 2 places…one on my side, and one on my back, so I have stitches. Then he gave me a new prescription for something a little stronger and an oral antihistamine to take at night. The dermatologist didn't know what it was, either, but he suggested it may be pregnancy related, especially since it started during pregnancy and Chris and Kylinn don't have it, so it isn't contagious. And I am not prone to rashes. I go back this Friday to get the results of the biopsy and to get my stitches removed. It sucks!
