01-12-2008 - My Labor Story

My mood while writing this blog: awesome

Mike and I ate dinner around 6pm on the 12th, I had broccli alfredo, around 8pm I started getting "gas pains" not realizing that they were contractions....I thought nothing of it and went to bed around 10ish...couldnt sleep, around 12:10 I rolled over thinking if I could just get comfy I could fart and relieve this gas pains, well instead i felt the big gush of my water breaking.....went into the bathroom to check for sure, o yea, its time.....
woke Mike up, proceeded to go into shock and start shaking....Mike wrapped me in blankets and then climbed back into bed w/ me, still half asleep he cuddled up to me and said, what should we do now....at that instant both of us kinda snapped out of it like "Holy Sh*& we gotta get to the hospital!!!!" lol
We made it to St. Mary's in record breaking time, the hour long trip took us about 1/2hr....they hooked me up and I proceeded a lonngggg hard labor, taking showers and writhing in pain, the offered me the epidural, at like 2am, I wasnt that far along at that point so I said no....well when I did finally get it, it was 11am....felt the true bliss that is epidural...then about an hour later, unbeknownst to me, I dialated the remaining 4 inches....felt incredible pressure and pain where the epidural was and the cathader, heard everyone saying 'its time! its time!' and officially freaked out, clawed up poor Mike cuz of the pain, bit into his shirt, got yelled at by the dr and then calmed down, Doc said push when u get the contraction so that's what i did and 2 pushes later Tyler was here.....he had a little bit of a slow start, had inhaled some amnio fluid that had a bit of merconiom in it and his blood sugar was a little down so he needed an IV for a few days =::( but all is well now =) and he's quite the lil piglet eatin as he should....we're breastfeeding but b/c of the issues he had at first, he doesnt like my nipple so i have to either pump n feed him via bottle of stick a baby bottle nipple on my own to get him to latch on, either way he's gettin the good stuff......
so all in all everyone is happily ever after and now im off to post some pics =)
