| 21-8-2011 - Just an update | My mood while writing this blog:Tired, hot, frustrated |
So I see I haven't actually written anything since 2010! Been a bit busy these days it seems!
Isabella will be 3 years old in 2 months time. I'm finding that really hard to grasp! 3!!! She is bilingual in English and Greek - speaks both languages all the time. She counts to 10 in both languages, sings silly songs in both languages, knows which kids are only Greek and which ones are English at the playgrounds. It's amazing to watch.
We have finally mastered potty training and she was successfully breastfed for 2 years and 1 month! Both I let her take the lead on. She basically showed me the signs that she was interested in potty training so I started her. In 2 days, she was done! I also watched her signs for readiness to stop breastfeeding. That in combination with the fact that I had to go to Spain for interviews so I would be gone for 3 days also helped. One day and she understood - no more booby!!!
All her teeth came in by Christmas 2010. Luckily, she teethed relatively well. No major problems but I could always tell when one was coming - really explosive diapers, loss of appetite and she had a bit of a stinky mouth.
She's a very happy child - quite dramatic in a good way - can play on her own but loves the company of other kids. She has 2 best friends - Zoe who is 9 months older than her and Ana who is 2 weeks younger than her. Their mothers are good friends of mine too. Isabella would be going to pre-school here in Greece starting in September but, our family is leaving due to the economic situation and we are returning to Canada.
I'm excited about that in a lot of ways. Especially for Isabella! So many more opportunities for her in terms of playing and learning. She will go to preschool in Canada and next year, kindergarden. She will get to know my family which is very exciting for me! She met them all last summer when we went for a month and instantly clicked with them. Which is more than I can say for her family here in Greece! For some reason, she doesn't click with them. Other than her 2 older cousins. But that is another story.
My niece and nephew have had kids in the last year so she will have 2 kids her age to play with as well. I'm very excited!
My husband is not so excited. He's Greek - 100% - true blue. He's not happy about leaving Greece and in a way, neither am I. But, there are better opportunities in Canada for us as a family and it has to be done. Better now while she is still young because if she was a teenager - we'd have BIG problems!
And that is my update. No luck on the TTC front. Isabella was a sort of miracle and I don't think 2 miracles will happen in our family! I'm thankful for the 1 I did get!
So we will see what awaits us in Canada! I am hoping we are gone by or during the month of November. Christmas with my family! A first in YEARS!!!
Cheers!
