| 15-5-2008 - My 1st blog | My mood while writing this blog:Smiling! |
Well, thanks to Kirsty - I am now here! I wanted to do something like this when I first found out about my pregnancy when I was 6 weeks - guess it's better late then never!
I've been in Greece for 5 years now after a 1 year long distance relationship with my now husband. It's been an interesting ride that's for sure but I haven't looked back once!
I am now 17 weeks and 3 days pregnant. My husband, Lambros, and I just got married on March 12, 2008. We tried so hard to get married in December while my parents and sister were here for Christmas, but as I was born in Scotland and grew up in Canada - there was too much paper work to get through in Greece. So we finally sorted it all out in February and March 12th was the big day!
And then the most beautiful surprise happened to us! We were out of town for a weekend escape - and both of us on a 2 week leave from work for holidays. I was not feeling the greatest but figured I was still getting over the virus I had 2 weeks prior. We have had a hard time at getting pregnant so I thought it was a very distant "maybe". But once the nausea started (only to be cured by eating something dry) I thought it time to take a test. And low and behold - POSITIVE! We were both stunned and yet so happy but didn't want to get too excited until the doctor confirmed it for us.
On February 27th, our doctor confirmed everything - we were 6 weeks pregnant!! What a moment that was for both of us!! I suppose our little one wanted to share our big day with us on March 12th! We decided to tell his family and a close friend of mine who were out for dinner with us after the wedding ceremony 2 weeks later the news. His family couldn't be happier. I called my family and gave them the news - my parents were so pleased - their youngest grandchild is 22 years old so this is like the first all over again! My sister was away on business - she's a travel agent and was touring a new cruise ship - she was on the balcony on her cell phone with me screaming when I gave her the news! It's bittersweet however as my family won't see the "live" pregnancy - thank goodness for webcams and digital pics!
I cannot complain about pregnancy so far - I only experience 24 hour nausea till about the 13th week and the extreme tiredness. But all is well and on Monday we have our monthly appointment - I hope we can tell if this is a Prince or Princess in the making!!! My gut instinct has been Prince - we shall soon find out! I hope!!!
Ok - enough for now!!!
