| 09-10-2008 - Last appointment - we thought!! | My mood while writing this blog:Still happy and content |
We were back at the doctor's today for a cardiogram, internal exam and we had a surprise u/s to check the weight of the baby. And discuss what will happen next!
The cardiogram was excellent - strong heartbeat, lots of movements and many contractions happening although small ones. Isabella is now 3.35 kilos and after the internal, it was determined nothing has changed since Monday's exam.
So our next steps...and I'm REALLY happy about this! My doctor is letting me go until Tuesday the 14th - this is the absolute last day of pregnancy. She is doing this in hopes that my body goes into natural labour on it's own - which she knows I would prefer. My sugar levels are good and the baby will be as much as we thought she would be at birth. She was happy with the number of contractions I was having - but not with how intense they were. She wanted them stronger so that she would feel better knowing the induction would take better if we went in on Saturday.
She's encouraged us to do whatever we can - including having lots of sex between now and Tuesday! Yipee - I'm all over that one!! LOL And I'm really pleased that she's given us a few more days to hope for a natural start to labour.
Coincidently, if you have read my profile page - you will see that October 14th is a very significant day in mine and Lambros' lives. After only speaking to each other for 6 months on the phone, through emails, etc., we finally held each other and saw each other for the very first time on October 14, 2002! We find this is a coincidence that this long distance relationship we had started up will come full circle with the birth of our first child 6 years later - on the same date. I am still hopeful that natural labour will start - and maybe it will the night of the 13th - but I know our Isabella will make her appearance on October 14th - just so my husband and I never, ever forget the most significant date in our lives - soon to be twice significant!!
Saturday and Monday we have to do cardiograms again - checking the contraction intensity and of course Isabella's heart. I hope there are some changes to the intensity!! Wish us luck! We are so very close!!!
