| 25-11-2008 - 6 weeks later | My mood while writing this blog:Tired but content |
Hi ladies! Well, it's hard to believe that 6 weeks have gone by with Isabella! It's been challenging to get on the internet which is why I haven't responded to anyone of late. But I do know you all understand and hope that all is well with each and every one of you!
We had a hard time the first 3 weeks as I was having some huge issues with breast feeding. But I was put in touch with a lactation specialist who incidently became Isabella's pediatrician in the end. She was so helpful and reassuring and now aside from being exhausted with breast feeding exclusively, it is successful for us. The first doctor we saw insisted I supplement with formula and led me to believe I didn't have enough milk. I was very upset about this and hated giving her formula as she threw most of it up each time. But this specialist was a Goddess!! She assured me I had more than enough milk - which I do - and that with persistence - all will be ok. And it is!!
Isabella is now 3.9 kilos and is 55 cms long - she just had her check up today and is doing fantastic. Her doctor is very happy with how she is doing.
Isabella is smiling at us a lot these days and is discovering her voice. She has discovered her hands also and sucks them alot. She is a very good baby - we are very lucky. And about 2 or 3 times a week, we experience colic with her - or what we think is colic. She cries and is very unhappy for about 3 hours during these times and it's hard to console her. Eventually, the exhaustion sets in and she ends up latching on to me finally and falls asleep. But it's heart breaking for me and Lambros when we can't help her - especially when we see her tears and she looks right into our eyes during this time! I've broken down a few times because mommy can't help her - it's terrible watching your child suffer!
Anyway - I posted 2 new pics of her - she is my pride and joy!! My sister was here for the first 2 weeks of her life and was so sad to leave. Isabella also received a TON of presents from Canada - it was crazy! One large suit case my sister brought was filled with presents for Isabella only!!
I do hope you are all doing well. And hope to catch up more personally with you all soon! Everyone getting ready for the holidays?? I'm excited about our first Christmas with Isabella even though she won't remember it!!!
Take care everyone - Merry Christmas if I don't get back on!!!
