02-7-2009 - Isabella's milestones!

My mood while writing this blog: All emotions!!!

My Isabella is growing up! She is 8 months and 2 1/2 weeks old. Sometimes I just cannot believe how quickly she is growing up!!!

She reached two big milestones over the last month. The first is, she started crawling, or rather army crawling, on June 7th! Now she wants to explore everything and is on the move like crazy! Since then, she's up on her knees and sometimes her toes and just loves the fact that she can get away from me squeeling and laughing the whole time.

The 2nd milestone - she got her 2 bottom teeth on July 1st!!! They weren't there in the morning but when I was nursing her later that morning, I felt them as she was gently nipping me. So I checked again and low and behold - there they were! Just the heads have poked through but they are definitely her little teeth!!!

We have been calling her our "Gummy Bear" because we just love that big gummy smile she gives us. I am going to miss that - good thing I have some pictures of it! But now I'll have a whole other cute smile with little teeth!!!

She is still not the greatest sleeper. She naps beautifully but bedtime - not a chance!! She has never slept more than 3 hours at a time and that was back in her 1st month of life! Seven and a 1/2 months later - she's no better! In fact, she's worse! Many times she sleeps no more than 1 hour - sometimes 2 hours. For me it's no big deal as I am not working. We have begun sleep training and she's pretty good. I am going for the non-cry it out method and it's taking a while but we will get there.

Her doctor thinks that she is so restless lately because her teeth are coming out now and because she met a milestone with crawling. This sometimes happens to babies - when they learn to crawl or walk, they are so consumed by it that they can't sleep - they just want to keep doing it! But she's otherwise healthy.

She weighs 8.2kg and is 69cms long now. She had her first real haircut on June 30th - she has a full head of hair from birth and it's just out of control!! Especially in the heat we are having in Greece. She sweats like crazy - especially her head.

Isabella loves the beach - loves the sand and the water. She giggles and kicks her legs when we put her in the water - she thinks of it as her giant bath tub I think!!!!
