| 15-10-2009 - Isabella's 1st birthday | My mood while writing this blog:Happy |
Well, she did it! My Isabella is 1 year old now! What a day she had!
Her daddy took the day off work to be with her and we were busy most of the day. We went shopping and she received 4 more books and a cream colored velour track suit with stars on it. We had lunch and then came home for a nap before the family arrived.
I made chocolate cupcakes and had icing and sprinkles available for our nieces to decorate their own. My husband picked up Isabella's birthday cake with the 5 Disney Princesses on it. All while our little Princess slept peacefully.
The whole day I found myself looking at the clock. I was induced 1 week earlier with Isabella because of gestational diabetes. So I found myself thinking at 9:30am, "by now I would have been prepped". At 12:30pm, "my water would have broke". At 3pm, "Isabella went into distress and I had to take the epidural - dr's orders - my contractions were one on top of the other". At 5pm, "I'd be getting ready to push her out now" and at 5:05pm - as she slept so peacefully, I kissed her softly and whispered "Happy birthday baby girl" - that was the time she arrived on October 14th. I even had tears in my eyes for the love I have for her and for remembering her birth day as if it were yesterday!
I got her dressed at 6:30pm in the new dress that I picked out for her, brushed her hair and had her all ready for the family. They arrived shortly after and the fun began! She loves to play with her cousins even though one is 5 years old and the other is 12 years old. The older one is her favourite.
Isabella received some really nice presents from everyone - beautiful, orthopedic shoes from her aunt (in a purple suede - so gorgeous), a dress from her grandmother, building blocks, a chatty phone and puzzle from mummy and daddy. My parents sent from Canada a Bunnykins dining set - so beautiful! My sister sent a Disney video and a gorgeous poncho with mits. And my niece sent her a pair of pants and purple top - goes nice with the shoes!!
When it came time for the cake she was really excited! She laughed as everyone sang Happy Birthday (in English and Greek), and she reached for her scoop of icing - it was her cake afterall!!!
Everyone left at 9:30pm and by 10pm - my Isabella was fast asleep in her bed again. This time I think I detected a small smile on her face!
I reminised last night with my hubby - we were looking back on Isabella's pictures from when she was born. We found ourselves emotional over the pictures where she was just minutes and hours old. We have had an incredible first year with Isabella as I have written about before and I can't wait for the many, many more years we have ahead with her.
I hope we can give her a brother or sister one day - sooner than later. We are TTC and I hope I am pregnant by my 40th birthday next June!!
Happy 1st birthday my baby girl...I love you more than words can say.
