18-11-2009 - smiles & tears pretty tiredMy mood while writing this blog:
pretty tired

its a little after 4:15am. the baby woke up a little bit ago. we changed our diaper & ate a little bit, had a good burp & now shes just sitting here in my lap "talking" & waving her hands around. shes such a happy baby.

most of the time she just sits & smiles while you talk to her. shes starting to make expressions toward emotion. tonight when we were just sitting around & daddy was talking, she would just watch him talk, then when he would make a "serious face" she would look at him with a concerned face as if to say "daddy, are you ok ?" then when he would smile and happily say "all better !" then she would start smiling back at him. they did that a few times. it was the cutest.

i still havent gone back to work yet. have been waiting for a daycare spot to open up in the baby room. but i am unsure how she will do in daycare. she will take a bottle (most of the time), but prefers breast. sometimes she wont take her bottle at all. if somebodys watching her so i can do other things, it can get hard for them. if shes having one of those times where she is just really not wanting her bottle, they have a very fussy baby on their hands. shes also starting to cling to me a little bit. if someone is holding her & shes having a time when she only wants me, she'll cry til i take her back then almost instantly the tears will stop. so if she doesnt want the bottle & im not there, she's in complete meltdown mode til i come back home & thats not good. especially if im gone for an hour or 2. she'll scream that long without giving in or passing out, so how would that work if i'm gone 6-8 hours ?! it evens happens to dear daddy. but when im holding her & daddys home, she will often times prefer to look at daddy, especially when he's talking. so i dont get it.

but shes growing. 9lbs 3 oz when we last went to the doc for her 2 month immunizations. 21 1/2 inches. she likes to be held up where she can look around & is practicing standing & will sometimes cry until she's held up where she can "stand". i told her that her that her brother & sister can walk & talk & that she should stay little because she's growing up too fast. but she just smiled real big.

Well, I can't speak from experience on the daycare dilima but I do have some experience in kids... :-) As with anything new, it's going to be an adjustment and yes, she probably will throw a fit for a while until she gets used to it. But it shouldn't last forever. Before you know it, you'll be dropping her off and she won't even stop for a hug and kiss from you...that's just how kids are, no matter the age. But I can guarantee that after a long day of work and daycare, you two will be stoked to see each other, no matter what. And as harsh as this may sound, if she's without a choice between breast and bottle, eventually she will get hungry enough to take to the bottle. Babies have instincts and one of those ISN'T to starve. What kind of bottles have you tried and are you using formula or breastmilk, warm or cold, etc? You could try switching it up. My son doesn't have a preference....he just likes to eat! LOL! But my friend's baby wanted cold, like ice cold breastmilk or formula, while his brother only wanted formula from a bottle. Also, the baby that wanted cold milk or formula liked the vent air bottles, where as his brother didn't like them and prefered a regular bottle. I know it's hard to think of our kids, especially our babies, being with someone else, especially when we know them best and we can take care of them better. You can try changing up the bottles like I mentioned and see if that helps and once you're ready to go back to work, you could ease her into it by taking her for a couple hours while you shop, nap, clean, see friends, whatever and then talk to your boss about going back to work for a half day, rather than a full shift for a little while and then start leaving her all day.....ease her into the swing of things and show her that mommy does come back. And it will also ease the person in charge of her into having her and hopefully ease the wailing that she does. I can't believe her and my son are 2 weeks apart (exactly 2 weeks) and he was soooooo much bigger than her at his 2 month... he was over 12lbs!
