23-10-2009 - My 6 Week Check-Up & IUD's

My mood while writing this blog: happy and curious

so i went this morning for my 6 week postpartum check up & everything looks great !

when the time came, she asked me if i wanted to start birth control. i immediately say "yes !" she asked if i wanted anymore kids or if i was interested in getting my tubes tied. i said i just wanted the BC since i wasnt 100% sure if id want anymore babies & didnt want a permanent fix just in case i did.

so we talked about the 2 options i have, the shot-OUCH ! or a hormone-free IUD named ParaGaurd. i told her id had enough shots lovenox & really didnt want anymore. so the IUD was the winner.

now ive never had an IUD before. the brochures she gave me say there may be some cramping & pinching feelings when its going in. the last time i heard there 'may be some cramping' it HURT !! i asked my friend who i knew had one before & she said it hurt. so now im nervous. also while i was reading through the brochures they were talking about perforation of the uterus & that its more common in women who are lactating. thats me ! so now im even MORE nervous !

because i had sex during my 6 weeks (oops) she wants me to wait 2 weeks, (sex-free this time) before placing the IUD so she can give me a pregnancy test. so now i have 2 weeks to weigh whether or not the IUD is what i want.

to any & all ladies that have had IUD's before i would LOVE to ask you a few questions. because i can grill my friend all day, but i would like other women's opinions (just because she said it hurt, doesnt mean it hurt every women, ya know ?)
