02-8-2009 - pictures and a warning for moms, please read. OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

I added new pictures of Lilly at 7 weeks old...also the picture of me and Lilly has a bit of a warning in it...if you see on my arm theres a big bruise and a bite mark(which is now a week old and still looks pretty bad, now mind you this side is the better of the two sides, he BARELY bit this side...theres only one puncture wound on this one, the other side the puncture wounds are much deeper, and I needed stitches)...I was bit by a yellow lab that I had met numerous times before and was nice and litterly attacked me when I had the baby in my arms, it ran down the hallway hearing the baby cry and into the living room where we were sitting and bit my one arm (I immediately went into protective mommy mode, I had Lilly in a ball and my arms were around her), and when he realized he wasn't going to get her from that side he went to the other. If the owner of the dog wouldn't have come out the dog would have kept biting me until it got to her-I felt helpless, SO helpless..I couldn't move or else he would have somehow bit her, the only thing I could do was stay still...this dog went nuts when he heard her...and I will NEVER ever forget the growl he made when he came after us, or the look on Lilly's face when it was over when my arms were completely numb and I was litterly in shock, and it took everything I had to keep holding her, she was my rock, her face was so calm like she had no idea of what had just happened. When I got to the hospital I was really, honestly in shock, I was shaking from head to toe and had a fever and could barely walk. My mother had picked up Lilly and when the stitches were in I called her to make sure she was okay, I made her get her naked. Nothing on her body, she was completely fine. It's funny because you dont know what you're going to do in that situation until you're in it. I held a firm hold on Lilly, and when he bit me the only thing I could say in a normal voice was "ouch", and then the area went completely numb, then when he went to the other side it was like watching a movie.

In better news, Lilly is getting so big! Look at the pictures, we got her a hoodie yesterday and it's the cutest thing inthe world. Also, she is completely formula fed now, and ya know what? I'm completely happy with that...after a stressful situation I wasn't able to eat like I needed to keep my supply up, and because of the stress I couldn't keep the supply up...so thanks to wic I'm much happier being a mom-I dont have to worry about how much I'm pumping and if she's getting enough or if i'm out I dont have to limit my time due to pumping...blah blah blah. I gave her a month of my milk...and i'm proud of that, but you know what? Whatever works...love is the best gift you can give.

OMG that is crazy, dogs are very strange animals. You did a great job protecting your baby. You should be very proud of yourself.

OMG that's really scary! I'm sorry that you had to go through that, but I am glad that you and Lilly are doing good.

Liz, great job being a protective mamma! That is seriously one of my worst fears! But I agree with GoldenMama - shoot that awful dog - I am so mad for you!

WOW. That is so scary. Im happy you and Lily are okay. I forget sometimes, but its good to be reminded that they are animals, and as much as you think you know them, they are wild.. Thanks so much for posting this. My dog is so mild mannered are doesnt care at all about the babe, but ever her, she could do anything at any time. I hope you heal fast :-)
