| 05-6-2009 - Phoenix is born | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
As per my previous blog I was induced on the 13th May 2009 and thankfully my little man did not arrive on this day (to many people I know birthdays). My labour story begins with when I arrived at the hospital for my 4pm induction. I arrived at the hospital and there wasnt even a bed ready so that took them 20mins to get a bed ready so I finally get a bed and me and my partner are waiting for the doctor to come and give me the dugs to bring on my labour, well the doctor didnt arrive till 9pm (there goes the 4pm induction). They tell me nothing will happen till the morning and that they would probably have to insert more drugs then, well my little man wasnt having that, couple of hours later and I start having contarctions every 6 mins so call the nurse and she gives me some panadol and tells me its not contractions but pain from the induction drug (yeh right), the contractions start to get worse like they were coming one after the other with no break so I call the nurse again and she decides that yes im in labour and that maybe its time to go to the birth suite, so off I go even though I had to stop about 3 times on the way over to the birth suite (i walked there). I get into a room in the birthing area and the midwife comes to assess me and see whats going on, I tell her that im in heaps of pain as it was all im my back thanks to bubs spine being on my spine so she stuff ass's around doing god knows what, then I tell her that I have the feeling to push and she says not your not ready so im trying to stop myself pushing and I made my waters break all over the floor. The midwife decides that maybe yes im ready and I walk to the birth room, they finally get me on the bed (that was a struggle) and they go off to call my partner ad my trainee midwife, by now im really feeling the need to push but trying hard not to as my partner and trainee midwife still hadnt arrived, but the midwife is telling me that I have to get him out cause his heart rate was dropping and im telling her no not untill my partner arrives but she gives me no choice and I start pushing. I start pushing and my trainee midwife arrives just in time, he starts to emerge but cause he has broad shoulders the midwife has to put my leg up to my chest so there is more room for him (that was an experience lol), a few seconds later he is out but is very blue so I start freakn out and asking them if he is ok and then finally he starts to cry yay. They give him to me and his poor little face is bruised and they told me it was from rapid decent (was in a hurry to come out), he was born at 3am on the 14th of May 2009. My partner missed the birth by a few minutes so that was a little upsetting. All up my labour was 70 mins, first stage was 50 mins and second stage was 20mins but that was long enough considering it was all back pain (i wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy).
