| 07-8-2009 - what a rollercoaster of a week | My mood while writing this blog:overly blessed |
Hello ladies! Wow...it's been a hot minute! I have been basically stranded at my parent's house for the past week, but I'll explain more about that later.
Jayde is 5 months old (as of the 1st)! She is so beautiful and growing so much. She's definitely a mover and a shaker and will be one of those independent kids (which will make single motherhood a lil easier, i'm sure). I started her on baby food veggies on Sunday (carrots so far). I don't think she likes carrots though; when i feed them to her she kinda makes a yucky face. Also, she's pooped most of what i feed her the next morning; is that normal? She doesn't seem to be in pain or have any rashes from the carrots, but i can definitely see the carrots in the poop. Anyways, Jayde hasn't started fully crawling yet (she still just gets up on all fours and rocks or scoots or jumps from place to place). But, she already pulls herself up into standing positions! I know, crazy...maybe she'll be one of those babies that just starts walking and never actually crawls. Whatever the case, i love my lil one and she'll do what she wants to do when she wants to do it.
So...my ordeal started when we left for my parent's house a week ago (last Friday) b/c i wanted to go to my grandparent's house in SC the next day. Well we went to SC and spent the night with my grandparent's; they loved having Jayde there overnight and Jayde loved just sitting and talking to her great grandparent's. It was a nice visit.
So, i come back to my parent's Sunday evening...get ready to leave Tuesday (cuz me and my sis were going out bowling Monday night). Tuesday i'm driving on the highway and all of a sudden when i put my foot on the gas, the car won't go over like 12mph. I get towed, mechanic looks at it and it's the transmission...it's dead! :( My car was the first one i bought myself so of course i'm still making payments (had 2 years left). Well, a rebuilt transmission is $1200 and only has a 1 year warranty. Plus, the a/c compressor needed fixing already ($1000) and they were guessing the engine would go next. I was really sad, but I had been studying faith in my devotions so I leaned on that knowing that somehow God would work it out. I had said i wanted a new car anyways but didn't really wanna stretch my budget unless i HAD to (yall i had JUST made a budget too and was doing well with it). Well, God had another plan to bless me!
First let down was i didn't qualify for cash for clunkers so i couldn't get any money for this car that was virtually useless to me. I didn't have enuf money in savings or on a credit card to fix the transmission or for a down payment on a car. Third big thing, i go to one dealership and they basically tell me that since i still owe on my old car it couldn't be used as a trade and i'd need a brand new car that cost quite a bit to carry the negative equity from my old car. In a nut shell i needed about $1000 down and my payment would be over $400 a month. No way i could do that! Last try was at a Honda dealership (my old car is a Honda). Long story short, God worked it out so that I drove off the lot in a BRAND NEW NEVER DRIVEN BEFORE 2009 HONDA CIVIC IN SILVER (this was the color car i said i wanted next)! I put no money down and pay only $100 more than what i was paying on the old Honda (it was 8 years old). In my rebudgeting i went to downgrade my cable and tell me why they offered me a special that will save me $30 a month, but i'll actually have 20 more channels with digital cable and DVR??! Another added surprise blessing. God is too good! Blessings on top of blessings b/c He loves me. I'm telling you, if you think you can't, step back and watch God cuz He WILL! You gotta trust Him and let Him do it!
Jayde and i are finally back home (only to leave again tomorrow for Raleigh to celebrate a friend's bday). She'll go visit her daddy today and we'll head out tomorrow. Yup, we've been busy but i've only got 2 weeks of summer left so i plan to enjoy!
