12-8-2009 - i had a DATE!!! please read...need some feedback

My mood while writing this blog:

So I think i told yall about a new potential guy in one of my other blogs. Wellllll, we went on a date today...ALL day lol! Lemme explain from the beginning...so after dealing with all the ish with Rol (Jayde's father), i really felt like i kinda wanted to start dating again. Rol and i were together for about 2 years and we met at the club (which is where i've met a couple of other boyfriends too). Well, i felt like the club wasn't the best place to meet the type of guy that i now want (older, mature, more settled/ serious, not just a booty call...etc.) So i joined eharmony. Yup, after kinda smirking at online dating sites...i joined. I thought i'd proven myself right when after a month the 2 guys i started talking to at all turned out to be not good...one a flake and one really weird.

Then i met Lucas. He's so cute and sweet and mature (just finished Law School, took the BAR, OWNS a house, keeps his word, calls me just cuz, etc...). We've been talking since June 9 online and since June 29 on the phone. Today we met halfway and went to this little place that has putt putt, bowling, go carts, arcade games, etc. Well, we hit it off great! I was a lil nervous that it would be different in person (cuz we have great chemistry in email and over the phone). After leaving the lil game place (we ate there too) we went and saw the movie The Proposal with Sandra Bullock (it's good by the way). We spent about 7 hours together! I THOROUGHLY enjoyed myself with Lucas!!! I've been smiling so much today my face hurts lol!

Ok, but ladies 2 things about him that sorta worries me/ makes me hesitate...1. we live about 4.5 hours away from each other (long distance, yeah...). 2. he's white. Now don't get me wrong i nor my fam has anything against dating outside your race... my nephew is 1/4 Vietnamese and 1/4 White so yeah. But, seriously, i think long term when i'm thinking about dating now b/c i DO wanna get married in the next 3-5 years. Wouldn't it be hard for Jayde growing up living with me and her white stepdad and biracial bros. and sis. I mean she'd know her real father (i hope), but would this be too weird?? I knew that when i got preggo out of wedlock there would be decisions i'd have to make in her best interest...is this one of those?? Are/ have any of you ladies experiencing/experienced this?? I need help before i decide to pursue this relationship any further. And, also the long distance thing...any of you have GOOD (or bad i guess so i can weigh my options) experiences with that??

Well, give me advice if you can. I'm going to shower and dream about my new boo lol. He actually just texted me so i'm sure we'll be talking for awhile...yall why do i feel all giddy inside...??

Oh, but missing my babygirl...she's overnight with daddy tonight :( I'll get her in 14 hours tho :-)

Do not be worried about the race difference. I was adopted into a white family and I'm clearly Asian. Whenever I'm out with my little sisters or whatnot, people make comments assuming that I'm the babysitter. I got used to it a long time ago. If your date turns out to be a great guy, don't let that hold you back. Also, long distance can be hard. Don't let him use or take advantage of you (my ex was long distance and lived a totally different life away from me). Just don't want you hurt or to wear your heart on your sleeve. But I'm so excited for you! Hope he turns out to be a keeper!

It will be fine! We have a blended family....my son is white from a previous relationship, my bf has a daughter who is full black from a previous marriage and me and him are going on baby girl number two! We do excellent together and sometimes the kids talk about color and we explain it to them....but basically they look at each other as brother and sister and nothing else. Your daughter is young and if it works out with this guy then it will be easier to blend at a young age rather than say teenagers....I say go for it and good luck. You sound like a smart mom to think ahead and that's what's really important!

The difference in race will only be a problem if you make it weird. If you like him and he likes you and treats you and your daughter well, then their should be no issues with the color difference. I think the more children grow up around different races, the better well rounded they'll be and less judgemental. I hope this helps :) Good Luck with Lucas.. sounds like you found a good one. i dont think you should think of it like that cause you are full blk and could or will be loving a white man so if you put race out the equation she will learn to love other races too.

To be honest I'm not in the same situation as you, but I've been thinking about the same things as I'm not with my baby's daddy nor have given birth yet. My new boyfriend is under the understanding that I will be giving birth to a little boy in a couple of week and that no matter what my son comes first, he's honestly proven to me that he's going to stay around even after my son is here. Side note: I'm white, but everyone thinks I'm mixed and no my mom & father is white as can be, strange, NOPE! I just got the gene's from my other family members and there's nothing that I'd change about it. I also grow up in a split family; My mom and dad divorce when I was 2 years old and shortly after they got remarried(mom at 9 & dad at 7). As long as he's good to you and your little girl, I don't see what the difference would be. My dad and step-mom had a little boy when I was 9 years old, it didn't make a difference to me and he was still my little brother. I hope this helps ease your mind, I know I'm babbling.
