| 06-3-2010 - WTF part II | My mood while writing this blog:Frustrated |
On Wednesday I had a follow up with my OB from my emergency room trip the Friday before. I had been having contractions all morning, from 6:00am until my appointment at 10:00am I already had 38. I told him this and he didn't even examine me but rather sent me straight to labor and delivery to be looked at by the high risk docs... another 1/2 day off of work.
So I get there and of course I'm all worked up and because I'm freaking out I'm having contractions every 2 minutes. They examined me, checked the length of my cervix with a sonogram both internal and external, ran all kinds of tests... nothing, still dialated 1 cm and effaced 50%. The FFN test from Friday still was valid for a week and a half. They decided to give me Terbutaline to stop the contractions. All it did was slow them to 8 minutes apart and make me feel like a jittery ass crack head for 3 hours, it was terrible! It's like taking too many puffs of asthma spray or drinking 10 shots of espresso or Red Bull. It made my heartrate go up to 115 and the peanuts up to 199. That was scary.
Nurses would look at the monitor and just shake their heads, couldn't figure out how I was having measurable contractions so often but my cervix wasn't changing. You know what they told me? That sometimes women with several previous pregnancies have active uteruses... REALLY? That's your final answer? Well I flipped the hell out ( I failed to mention that I hadn't had anything to eat that whole day and nobody would sign off on giving me food) I yanked every probe, wire, lead off of me and started to storm out saying that I was going to another hospital. After that tyrade and 7 hours of being in that hell hole I finally see an actual doctor, not a resident, a doctor. Apparently they wanted my business after all. They brought me food and said as a last ditch effort to stop my contractions they wanted to give me morphine... They reassured me that the dosage they gave me would not harm the baby and since it would not be a regular thing, my peanut would be okay.
I had the morphine and wow!!!! That stuff was awesome, took away my contractions, actually had a great nights sleep, I almost asked for more!!! To date (knocking on wood) my contractions are not regular and I may have one once an hour if that and the peanut is moving around like crazy so all is well...finally. Still doesn't explain the random contractions though hmmmm... any thought on this ladies??
