| 05-7-2008 - 28-29 weeks along | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
I don't usually write about my pregnany updates but I think these past 2 weeks are very significant.
I had my 3D4D u/s last Saturday and like all sessions our little angel was hiding behind the placenta. She was also asleep throughout the entire procedure that the doctor made me walk around the mall for an hour just to try and stir her up. She wanted to make sure I get good pictures of my angel on my 1st DVD. During my stroll, I was advised to eat some chocolates, ice cream and drink soda.
After an hour, we went back to the clinic and lo and behold, our little angel was still peacefully sleeping. The doctor got a few pictures but had me go back Thursday for a re-scan. She wasn't completely satisfied with the shots. She did give me a report though and our little one weighed (estimated fetal weight) roughly 2lbs 7ozs and was measured at 27w4d based on ultrasound (a week and 2 days off since I was at 28w6d then).
So we went back Thursday, this time at night. We tried a change in schedule because I told the doctor that my little one usually moved a lot during the night. Well, hubby also worked nights so before he had to work was the only time he could go with us on a weekday. As expected, we caught our little angel move around A LOT! She had both her feet stretched, and on her face. But since she was very active, the doctor was able to get good shots of her. It was fun seeing her so active for the first time. We already had 5 ultrasound sessions, with 2 being re-scans, but this was the only time we saw her actually awake! I saw (and felt) her kick and poke me, HARD! My whole family was laughing their hearts out. It was all so good. The only thing that surprised me though is that in a matter of 5 days, my angel went from 2lbs 7ozs to 3lbs 5ozs. Amazing!!! Based on the ultrasound, she was measuring 29w6d. I was completely shocked, happy but worried at the same time. I thought I did something wrong in the past 5 days for her to grow this fast.
So with all the reports and pictures, hubby and I (together with my mom, sister, nephew and nieces) went to my OB-GYN. Just to explain, I have 2 OB-GYNs. One for consultation and for my baby's delivery, and the other one does the ultrasound (different clinic but my 1st doctor knows about it). Anyway, after having a hard time gaining weight for 7mos, a total of 6 lbs, I learned I gained 9 lbs just the past month. So I now gained a total of 16 lbs!!! My doctor was happy with it, and says the vitamins she gave me to make me hungry all the time obviously worked. I'm finally off the vits and now on to iron and blood thinners. She wants to make sure I don't get pregnancy induced hypertension. My bp was a bit high at 130/90 when got to her clinic (what would you expect after going up 2 flights of stairs with 3 kids??? lol). I only have to take them for 2 weeks though and monitor my bp at home. I asked her about the weight gain, and it didn't worry her too much. I also advised her that the other doctor said the baby was in breech position, but she said it's too early in the pregnancy for me to worry about it. I was just told to do the figure 8 dance, like doing the hoolahoops, and that usually works in positioning the baby. She measured my fundal height and it increased by about 5cm, I'm now at 30cm. Baby is really getting big fast! We will also be doing the ocular visit of the hospital where I'm considering giving birth at, with my doctor's approval. Everything seems to be going sooo well for us.
I'm so glad there's nothing to worry about. I can't wait for my next ultrasound to see my baby again. I'll be seeing my OB again for another checkup at the end of the month, I think I'm nearing the every 2-weeks-cycle like most of the moms. This pregnancy has been so fun for me.
I really do hope that everything goes well for all the other mommies. Be safe everyone! Happy belated July 4th!
P.S. Pics up of my Saturday and Thursday scan.
