My mood while writing this blog: curious |
I've been going round and round trying to decide weather or not to get me and my 17mth old vaccinated for the H1N1 virus. I've done a lot of research and I'm asking everybody I know the same question so I can make a decision. Are you or your child getting vaccinated ? Why did you make the decision to do it or not to do it? Please take the time to answer this blog. I'm driving myself batty trying to figure it out.

Friday, 11 Sep No, No, NO !! I never ever get a flu vaccine. Why risk yourself or your children? One ingredient in the flu vaccine is mercury. Why would anyone intentionally inject themselves with this? I'd much rather take a chance on getting the flu. Wash your hands constantly and stay away from areas with lots of people if you can help it. Just my opinion of-course. marchbabies -
Thursday, 10 Sep I have been debating the same thing. I will be interested to see what others think. Let me tell you my experience with the flu vaccines: I worked in healthcare for several years and had never gotten the vaccine before. One year, I was strongly encouraged by my work to get it. So I did. That year, I got the flu. So, I decided not to get the vaccine the next year, or the next, or the next... and I never got the flu! So I never wanted to risk getting the vaccine again b/c the one year that I got it, was the only year I got the flu. Now, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I was again encouraged to get the reg flu vaccine. I had been healthy my entire pregnancy and was worried if I got the shot, I'd get sick again. I consulted with my doctor and he said that if I didn't feel comfortable getting the vaccine, then not to get it and just be extra careful. I washed my hands frequently, used a humidifier the entire winter, took my prenatals, and NEVER got sick the whole winter. Not even a cold. So now I understand that the swine flu is potentially more serious. And I have not made a final decision yet either considering this may be more dangerous than the regular flu. I am a believer in vaccines of every kind, except the flu. That is the only one I've ever refused to get. The vaccine won't even be available till November, so I'm just gonna weigh my options till then. Sorry so long! But those are my thoughts :)
