| 02-2-2010 - Kyle going to preschool setting school & new things he does. | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
Last week, All (mostly all) of Kyle's therapists were here.
I expressed that Kyle was going to be homeschooled with outside community support for socialization.
In April he is going to a program for kids just like him, 4 hours a week, plus he will still get 20 hrs of ABA. This to me is enough for a 3 year old to handle. He also has 2.5 hours of playgroup. That's 6.5 hrs a week of playing with other kids! Th
Well.. They all said it would benefit him to go to a preschool setting while he gets all this therapy too. It's only for 3 hrs a day total and 3 days a week. (9 hours total) Well my plans were to homeschool and still get all the therapy we get now. Well I was then told that if we DONT put him in public school, that would cut all ties for all the therapy he gets now. So therefore they are saying NO public school... NO therapy.
I didn't know there was NO choice.
I am not saying that it's not the best choice,... I see that it is.. but how do you send your non-verbal child to school with other people who know NOTHING about your child and NOTHING about why he acts up. My biggest fear is neglect on their part and "abuse." I fear that my child will get worse, me not knowing why, only to find out later... that it was due to neglect/abuse.
I am giving this school a chance, Kyle goes after his third birthday. So the second week of April is when he starts. I am excited but scared like any other parent would be. So in April between playgroup, another program, ABA therapy and school...the total is 35.5 hours!!
A lot for a three year old but structure is what he needs now than later to help him improve. Wish Kyle luck and I will update in a few months. =]
Kyle's therapy starts everyday at 7:30AM! How do you EVER adjust to that.. I am exhusted because I don't sleep well to begin with and up late doing schoolwork or cleaning.
I know one day he won't need all this therapy so I am sucking up as much as I can. =]
New things that Kyle has done:
~Knows ALL his ABC's
~Knows numbers 1-11, He can put them in order as well as put them in order going backwards!
~Hugs and kisses his sister again! =]
~Knows who mommy, daddy and "sissy" is when told "Where is ____?"
~Signs "more" and "please" again.
We filed our tax return and we are getting a lot back however all of it going for credit card payments that we used for Kyle's drs and food. Our Quad is getting paid off also. =]
That's all that has been new!
