| 04-2-2010 - Children\'s Institute (First Visit) | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
Today we went to the Children's Institue. We arrived at 9:45 and signed in. We waited in the waiting room with lots of toys!! =]
Then we were called in for the feeding evaluation. Kyle weighs 26.4. He is dropping weight and dropping down on the chart. He is right now a little below the 5th percentile for weight. We were instructed to NOT hide foods. For example I would puree carrots and stick them in his pumpkin bread along with chopped walnuts. They made this suggestion because WHAT IF he tasted the carrots or walnuts.... well bye bye bread. He won't eat it ever again... that would mean less food again. Which is something I do understand. They said not to try new foods right now either.. so there's less stress in that situation. Just feed him what he will eat. And what he will eat is:
~Beef Hotdogs (Applegate Farm *Nitrate free *HFCS free *Free of bad chemicals!!)
~Organic Unsweetened Applesauce
~GFCF organic pumpkin bread
~Envirokids Berry Blast Rice Krispy Bar
~Green beans (sometimes)
We were also instructed to feed him on a schedule to possibly help with feeling hungry.
We are to go back there next month and April.
What happens after April?
Inpatient. If no weight has been gained.
They also suggested adding beneprotein but it's WHEY protein. WHEY=MILK.
I am going to TRY it and if diaherria occurs, it's out the window!
So I am preparing myself mentally for the worst case which is inpatient and staying with him there away from my home for a month or more. I have to take my daughter with me and help Kyle out with whatever is wrong with him. I will come home a day or two a week to catch up on bills and clean. I will do whatever it takes so that my little man is thriving!!
We have also called the bank that we currently have our SUV payments through. I told them just to take it back. I am just trying to save as much as I can to help my little man out.. to help pick up the costs that the insurance will not cover. So bye bye ENVOY soon! =/ We have a truck and the money that was used for the Envoy we are going to save up for a decent car. I really hate this idea. We are also turning off our cell phones soon. You might think that we are downgrading to the "poor" life but this is all for our kids. Most of all for my son who deserves a life... deserves the chance to thrive in this world.
Thanks for reading,
Carol
