22-10-2008 - She's here!

My mood while writing this blog: tired but very happy!

My gorgeous daughter Zemirah Victoria arrived Monday night 10/20/08 at 8:14PM. Her first name is Hebrew for 'song of joy', and she definitely lives up to her name.
My very painful completely drug-free labor + delivery involved many hours of mild contractions, followed by sudden dilation from 3 to 7 centimeters in less than an hour. I didn't realize that I'd been through transition until I was informed that it had already passed, and it was time to push. Less than an hour later, our baby girl was here. It was a very atypical labor, especially for a first pregnancy. She is nothing if not dramatic. Her first act as she entered the world was to bite the doctor. That's my girl.
Tony, Zemirah and I came home from the hospital this afternoon. The cats are glad to see that I'm okay (they are very sensitive, and were all very sick because I was in labor). They're not too sure about their new little sister yet. The cats think she smells funny.
Sometime when I'm more awake and less sore I'll add pictures, and fill in details. For now, I'm off to my new steady job of constant breastfeeding.
