My mood while writing this blog: Afraid of the Monster I Created |
So as many of you know, Evie developed a fear of water a couple months ago. Bath time was reduced to screaming, kicking, headbutting attempts to flee the bath. I couldn't open the shower curtain (let alone turn on the water) without her running and hiding, crying in a corner of her room. And NO, there was no tramatic event precipitating this, it was like she flipped a switch one day. So, talked to her doctor about it, who told me it was normal and to look online for any solutions. I found an inflatable Yellow Ducky Bath Tub (read, greatest thing ever), so I blew it up and left it in the living room for her to play in. She loves that thing! So, I show her the ducky as I carry it into the bathroom, she still cried and ran that first time I filled it, but after about ten min began to play and (gasp!) splash in her ducky tub. This weekend marked the 3rd week of the ducky bath, and Sunday proved it to be a lasting solution. I was brushing my teeth, and Evie kept asking to have a bath, and I figured, sure I will give her a bath in a min. In the two seconds my back was turned she climbed onto the toilet and when I dove to grab her, she kamicazi lept for the bath tub, and MISSED! She has a good lump on her forehead and a bruise on her ribs, but all booboos were forgoten when I gave her a bath in that Ducky tub. We are going to have to deflate it and take it with us to Virginia in a couple weeks, she still won't take a bath in a big tub.

Wednesday, 2 Dec I can totally see Evie doing this! Wonder if Ethan's got something like that, he loves playing in the water but he's had some issues with bath time lately, he went from loving it to screaming and only being ok if Maddi was in there and then he's loving it and then tonight he was scared again....I was wondering if it was a temperature issue but the water isn't even that warm...I'll have to watch him I guess, might be searching for that Ducky thing! Wednesday, 2 Dec that's great!!! Bekah had some issues going from bathing in the sink to bathing in the tub.. she was scared of the tub, I think it was too open for her, so we would let her play in it some when it was dry for a couple weeks before trying to give her a bath in there... the first time she was really nervous (though toys helped)... now she asks for baths... the only part she really doesn't like is getting her hair washed... but even that she puts up with most of the time now without crying
