15-8-2008 - The BEST day of my life - The day Oliva was born

Hi All,

It's been a while since I have written anyone, I know. I am sorry. I last few weeks have been pretty stressful. Oliva Irelyn Swan was born on July 13th at 3:02am, via C-Section. She was 8lbs 12oz, 21.5 inches long. I know, big baby.... I knew I was growing a big one all along, lol..

My water broke on Saturday (12th) around 4am. It was not a gush, just a constant drip. By the time I had realized what had happen, it was 7:30 in the morning when it would not stop and I lost my plug. I was admitted at 8:30 in the morning and they induced me since I was only 2cm. In no time I was a 6 and in pain. I could no longer breathe through the contractions..Ahh, the epidural was wonderful. Did wonders!! I got to a 10 and could not push her out, she was up there sideways and big. My body was not having it. After a few hours, I was exhausted and had the c-section.

Not what I had planned, but the only way to insure we were both safe. I have hardly any scar, the doctor did a wonderful job....

I have been able to breastfeed like I had planned..so that has been a blessing. My FIL passed away 5 days after Oliva was born, so that took a little bit of a toll on my milk.. but I was able to get it back... and we are getting back to normal...

great post. glad to hear even though your labor wasn't what you had expected you had a very successful labor and have a baby to cuddle.
