| 03-5-2009 - Surprise Baby Shower | My mood while writing this blog:Happy |
I was so shocked, and so happy that this happened. I did not expect this at all, and I think that makes it all the better. About 3 weeks ago, I went to a Cookie Lee party thrown by one of my friends and military spouse. Of course there were other wives there. My husband being a recruiter, you end up being real close to the other wives whether you want to or not. It really is one of the things necessasary to survive with your husband doing recruiting duty. At the end of the party, one of the other wives lets me know that she is planning on having a girl day at her house, were everyone is just going to get together and chill and just have fun. I told her I would go so there seemed to be no promlem......yea right!
I recently had to renew my drivers license but being military and out of state I had to mail it in and everything. Well, ill put it down to pregnancy memory loss, I ended up taking all the time up in my temporary license before I went and got the eye exam, and then sent off the paperwork. That happened this previous week, so I told the wife that was hosting the girl day thing that I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make it due to me not having a license. I didn't know at the time, but apparently she flipped out, and told her husband to tell mine, that I had to make it to her house no matter what.
I grew a little suspicious that something might be up, because she kept asking me about it that week, and saying that she would find me a ride and such. Well as things turned out, My husband decided that since the girls were going to be doing a thing, that he would ask all the recruiters over for a diaper party. This worked out for me, cause one of the other wives dropped off her husband and picked me up.
So me and this other wife is just driving and shes texting and were almost to the hostess' house. We get out, and walk into the house. I take about 2 steps past the door and all these women pop out and yell SURPRISE!!!..........And i just freeze, and look over my shoulder like theres someone else there! Then they say its your baby shower! I almost cried. I was not expecting these ladies to throw me one, especially since the hostess told me that usually if you have a diaper party, that people dont throw showers cause the money goes into the diapers. Which I thought was good reasoning. So she tricked me pretty good.
Im originally from MI and am in OK right now, so family throwing me one that I could actually attend is out of the question. Plus, my mother passed away 5 years ago, and she would have been the one to actually do it back home, so it was really sad thinking that this is my first child and I wouldn't be able to experience it. Plus on top of that, I have never been to a baby shower before, so my baby shower was the first!
After the ladies made sure they didn't break my water from scaring the crap out of me we had an amazing time. We played the games, and I had to show off my belly to be measured(hated that part! lol), and ate some food, and then I got to open gifts. I feel so blessed that these ladies did this, and shocked that they were able to pull it off. Apparently my husband knew since before Easter, so I hit him good just for knowing about it. It somehow just makes the pregnancy and the pains worth it, and makes me feel so greatful for them thinking of me!!!!
