| 01-9-2008 - Marissa's Birth Story | My mood while writing this blog:Peaceful |
So it all started on Monday August 25th. My doctor called me to come in early for a fetal heart monitor check. He asked me after it was done "How would you like to have a baby today?" I replied, "Would I ever!!" Little did I know how long of a journey this would be in order to get to the end result of Marissa being born.
I went into the hospital at 11:00 am (no time to shave my legs lol). They didn't induce me until 4:00 pm and due to stupid hospital rules and the room I was in, both my coaches (my mom, and Marissa's other grandma) had to leave at 9:00 pm and the contractions started at 10:00 pm. I made it through the night and my coaches returned the next morning as I was having stronger contractions. It was all in the back and hurt like no other hurt I have had before. My dad and step mom came down and also helped me through contractions, but of course hospital rules both coaches and my dad and step mom had to leave at 9:00 pm on tuesday. I don't remember snapping at the nurse but I guess I said "I'm getting really frustrated with these hospital rules, this is not a prison you know!!" lol. During the night, I cried and I felt bad for keeping my neighbour up but the pain was intollerable, the nurse asked me if I wanted a shot of morphine so I took it. It helped ease the pain so I managed to get a couple hours of sleep as well they removed the epideral drug thing they gave me.
Wesnesday morning came and the contractions were not as in tense but were still coming and going. They decided they would break my water and give me the drip to bring on contractions. After they did this I decided I was too chicken to face contractions again and asked for an epideral. It took them 3 tries but they got it. It was sooo nice to not feel any pain and I made it to 7 centimeters diolated. I then contracted a fever and an infection and my blood pressure was on the rise. Around 9 pm the actual doctor came in to see me and after checking me discovered something was wrong because of the baby's heart rate dipping and he could feel that she was not able to pass through my pelvic no matter how many centimeters I would have diolated. He suggested a c-section.
Super scared once in the operating room I started to cry and shake violently, finally my mom was there beside me and I remember yelling at myself for shaking so bad. The anasteseologist asked if I wanted something to calm me down, which I accepted and from there I don't remember too much accept for seeing Marissa for a short second over the green drape they had. Once in recovery I was still shaking violently and I remember I kept saying "water, water, please, water." The nurse got frustrated after telling me over and over they couldn't give me any. I still continued to ask anyways.
I still have some memory loss from what ever I was given to calm me down but being filled in with the missing information my mom said that the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck and I kept asking if she was okay and if she was going to die and begging to see her. I guess I also got mad at my mom and babys grandma when they said they were going out for a coffee "NO! Please stay don't leave me, mom please don't leave me." lol.
The next morning I was wheeled into see Marissa in the NICU (still groggy and quite out of it) I didn't stay too long but was so happy to see she was alright. After a couple more hours of sleep I got to see her again and stayed for a couple hours.
Eventually I was more mobile and was able to go back to see her off and on throughout the day and they brought her into my room in the early evening.
They finally released me on saturday and I was so excited to finally be bringing my little angel home. I had/have alot of support as its been a very emotional roller coaster ride. Still in a lot of pain but I would do this over and over to get the end result which matters the most, my sweet little Marissa Chantelle Marie Thrun.
