25-9-2008 - I failed!

SOOOOOOOOOOO....I got a call from the Dr. this evening around 6:00. She was 1. calling to talk about my visit to labor and delivery earlier today..... She was happy everything was good! And she was 2. calling to tell me that I FAILED my glucose test....SOOO I say, "so now you're telling a pregnant woman that she can't eat all night and she has to get stuck 3 times?" She says, "Oh no...4 times!" Of course she said it in a playful manner....but son of a bitch......I hate hate hate needles!!! So Wednesday I'm going in for 9:00am for my 3 hour glucose test. I was 134 and it has to be 130. It's recently been changed from 140 to 130. I asked her if we could just skip the test and put me on the diet or whatever.... She said no I had to take the test. UGH and I have to go alone. Today has not been my day. I'm doing this for the baby....God knows I couldn't do it for me....I guess I could...but ohhh geeezzz I hate needles....

What happens it alot of times when people get a postive for diabetes on the 1st test. They dont on the second.. the second test is more accurate. So dont worry you may not have to get pricked after all if you 2nd test comes out good. I go for my 1st glucose test on tues. Im keeping my fingers crossed!

I am so sorry to hear that. I have my test next Thursday. Oh...I feel for you so much. I don't hate needles but I darn sure am not fond of them.

I just went through that lol...it sucks! Just bring something to do and it will go by fast. They had to poke me 4 times twice in each arm ouch!! LOL...
I am sure you don't have it though your number is really low. Mine was 144 and I don't have it. Good luck!

dude that sucks. now I'm scared of my test! I wish I could come with ya so you wouldnt have to go alone, I can deal with ANYTHING as long as I'm not BY MYSELF. ergh.

well.... this should offer a glimmer of hope...
i failed my first test too... doc told me though that 140 is normal (not sure he got the memo, haha!) and i was 148. doc told me then that i HAD to go to the 3hour follow up, but he assured me that my number was so low that i would def. pass the 3hour... its just protocol for them to send you if you fail initial test. i went to 3hour test the next week and passed it with flying colors! NO DIABETES OR NEEDLES HERE! so dont panic yet, you should be fine!!! Good Luck!

O... sorry to hear that!! The three hour test is LONG and boring... but its all for the baby :) Sounds easy to say :) I go for my hour test tomorrow morning... I hope I don't fail this time! Good Luck!

you will be right. I had it too and it wasnt that bad. Mine turned out to be alright as in not diabetic. yours will probably also

so sorry to hear about your results....hopefully since it was soo close if you watch your intake between now and the 3 hr test it may just be low enough and you can put it behind you :smile

Im with you on that one. I get to skip the one hour test and go right for the three hour one!!! Mine is on Monday. You are not alone!!
