My mood while writing this blog: concerned |
As I was rushing out of the door an hour early today to make it to a benefits meeting at work, I forgot my school bag upstairs for my night class. I run back upstairs and as I'm coming down, my bag hits the baby gate (we have it up to keep the dog off the stairs) and my foot hits the gate and we all come crashing down. Both of my wrists slam into the wall on the right side, I fall on my butt on top of my bag, the baby gate jammed into my upper thigh and my right knee hit the floor. Sound confusing but I was all balled up in dog hair, baby gate, school bag and tears....what a sight! I was more upset at the thought of hurting my baby, but I didn't hit my stomach in any area and as I was on the floor I made a mental note of how I fell and what hurt and what didn't. Thankfully my Husband was right there in the kitchen and picked me up and made me lay down on the sofa. I haven't called my Dr. because the baby has been moving and I feel fine. I feel guilty though for not calling her. I know she's going to make me go to labor and delivery and I just don't feel like it's necessary. Am I being selfish? What would you ladies do? I'm at work and like 3 minutes from the hospital. Should I call my Dr.? I've been monitoring any pain (slight to none) and baby movement which is a lot. What do you all think?
Thanks xoxo

Thursday, 20 Nov Rosa...I think you did the right thing. I fell twice when I was pregnant with my son and everything went fine. As long as you a feeling okay and not contracting or anything you probably shouldn't worry. As they say in all the books, all the water and everything that is surrounding the baby protects them so much that most falls don't hurt the baby. Sounds like you had a good one though. Take care of yourself and continue to monitor yourself and your baby. You sound like you are doing things fine. mrswood -

Wednesday, 19 Nov I fell down the stairs Sunday. My feet came right out from under me and I landed on the cement flat on my back and hit my head. I called the dr right away just to besafe. she did not mak me come in. She said since I didn't hit my tummy and baby was moving everything should be fine. Just watch for bleeding or cramping. Get well soon. I am bed ridden due to my fall unable to move much. Take some tylenol! lol tammie1 -
Wednesday, 19 Nov I read your blog about falling. I fell in the bathtub about 3 weeks ago and did not call the doctor. I figured I was not having any labor type pains and the little one was moving around also my water didn't seem to break, I figured all was fine. When I fell, I fell HARD, I hit my head on the porcelain tub and my legs separated into a split like motion because one leg was in the tub and the other was out side. I hit my leg on the track the sliding doors sit in (we have glass doors and not a curtain) and I was bruised from my inner thigh the whole way down to my calf. The next day I was SORE, but all seemed fine with my little one. I would say wait to call the doctor. If you start feeling like something isn't right then call and give him/her the heads up. Wednesday, 19 Nov First off... the mental image I got was HILARIOUS!!!
If that happened to me I wouldn't go unless you took a real hard hit to the belly... if your lil mr. is moving and everything feels normal then I wouldn't go.. you might call the doc and tell them... "hey I tripped and ended up on the floor... I didn't hurt my tummy and baby is moving and I feel fine" and see what they say... your intuition is better than their degree in my opinion.. :)
29 days til Maddox!! AH :)
