This morning was our first visit with my OB. I had to fill out a ton of paperwork and then finally we were able to meet our new doctor. She is really nice, patient and caring. She said "congratulations!" about 10 times to us probably because she enjoyed my reaction when she said it. She weighed me (I was 119, with clothes and breakfast) and then asked for a urine sample. After that, she asked me a bunch of questions on my medical and family history. She is sending me to a genetic counselor (I have a hereditary blood disorder) and to a lab for extensive blookwork. Then you have to be completely naked with only a blue paper gown on. She returned and did a physical exam, breast exam and then pelvic exam and PAP smear. After that the big moment arrived. She did a trans-vaginal ultrasound and there on the screen was my little baby and its flickering heart. We both started laughing due to happiness and relief! It was amazing! I have to go back to see my OB again at 12 weeks and go to the hospital for the nuchal lucency test at 13 weeks. She wrote me a prescription for prenatal vitamins with DHA and gave me a little bag with samples of prenatals and some things to read. It was wonderful! Good luck to all my fellow 8 weekers.

Congrats! Very exciting! I had a similar day yesterday...you'd think if they are going to insist we parade around in these paper gowns they could at least turn down the AC...I was freezing! But that all disappeared when I saw the heartbeat!
