My mood while writing this blog: excited |
I am a veterinarian and at work we have our own ultrasound machine for the animals. Yesterday, curiosity got the best of me and I did my own ultrasound. I drank lot of water, because a full bladder helps, and there she was! OMG - it was so amazing. She was moving around and kicking - like she was performing! Just like in the ultrasound video on the week 10 page. I was standing - not sure if that makes a difference with movement. As soon as I laid down - the baby quieted down.
The whole office was gathered in the room - oohing and ahing. We could all make out the head and the little body with the little heart just beating away. Cute, cute, cute!
I told my friend what I did (she just had a baby 2 months ago) and she was berating me, saying it "wasn't safe and I didn't know what I was doing."
Well, needless to say - she really scared me. Does anyone know the safety issues involve here? I thought an ultrasound was harmless...p.s. I am just guessing the sex - I don't know for sure, just a feeling....

Sunday, 15 Mar as far as i am aware it is harmless. i think it is the 3d ones they recommend not having too many off because it works differently. wish i had my own ultrasound machine. i haven't seen bubs yet, another 2 weeks before i know if everything is ok. it's nerve racking not even knowing if there is a heart beat. orone -
Saturday, 14 Mar Doing your own ultrasound is totally safe according to my sister. My sister is a veterinarian and has a fairly hi-tech ultrasound used for her work breeding horses. We are going to wait a few more weeks than I told her to give it a try! There is zero radiation involved in ultrasounds, it's just sound waves...so as far as I know, no harm!
