09-7-2009 - 27 week OB appt

My mood while writing this blog:
super excited

Today I had my 27 week OB appt. I did the glucose tolerance test in the morning. Then had to go back for my routine visit because my OB was delivering a baby at the hospital in the morning (I didn't get the message).
Anyways, I had nausea and diarrhea after drinking that glucola crap (it was fruit punch) - BLEGH! If it has a side effect I will always get it....
My fundal measurement was exactly 27 weeks and Avery's little heart was going strong on the Doppler. My BP was great too! Oh, I was up 2lbs and my OB didn't say a word - Thank God! I was cringing. (remember last time 25 weeks- we had the "I am concerned about your weight talk...")
I asked if it was true that DH can hear the heartbeat by listening to my bump and she laughed and said no.Funny, I read that everywhere. But it hasn't happened.
I got my 3rd trimester "gift" - a generous sample of Similac Advanced (always good to have on hand, I hear), a travel bag, and a list of pediatricians. So please tell me how I go about this....
Do you call the pediatrician, see them and "interview them" or simply tell them that you want them to care for your yet to be born baby? My OB gave me the name of the pediatrician she uses and I figure if this doctor is good enough for my OB she is good enough for me too! So what do I do now?
I appreciate the input as this is my first baby and I have never done this before.
I have a growth scan next week (fingers crossed for cooperative baby so they can FINALLY do 4D) and I see my OB every 2 weeks now....

I'm not sure how it is in NJ but here you can either call and go in and interview them or just call let them know you are expecting and when and let them know which dr. you want to be your baby girls dr. Also, make sure they work out of the hospital you will be delivering in.

My OB showed me that if you lay down and feel for the babies back you can roll up a magazine and press it to your tummy so your husband can hear the heart beat. He tested it on my tummy and said he could hear it but we haven't tried it yet. Mainly because now the baby kicks so much I am not worried about the heartbeat as much as I can tell she is fine by the massive kicks!

Only more 2lbs...that's good. I've gained 20! ;) I didn't get the speech about my weight at my last appnt because I told my midwife I've been walking every night so she was happy about that.

My midwife put in a referral for a pediatrician and we actually have an appnt with her next Tuesday to ask questions, make sure we like her, and to get information on what we need to do after the baby is here. I wanted to do it early so it's one less thing to worry about.

I can't believe we're in our last trimester...seems like just yesterday we were worried about MCs. Time flies when you're having fun ;)
