Ok, so i live in base housing, and for the most part its good. lots of kids for my kids to play with. But i do have a problem. We have coons really bad. I seen one once before i was standing outside and noticed that my cat kept meowing at me through the slider glass door... when i looked to see where he was looking when not at me, there was a coon peering at me threw the fence, he did not hiss or anything, seemed he was more curious than anything. Well i NEVER leave any food outside, and our garbage is always shut up. Well that freaked me out. Then did not see it for awhile, just stopped going out at night, as well as keeping all windows tightly shut at night. Well last night there was one that came through the fence, right up to the slider door, and i was just watching it, well as soon as he looked up and seen me, off he went. Well tonight at 12:12am, sure enough, there was another coon in my back yard, right next to the slider. Thank no joke exactly 2 hours later, another one in the same spot. I have not left any food outside, and this worries me as i have 3 kids and dont want them to get hurt... i dont want to harm the little buggers, just would like them to find another yard or somewhere not to close to home... Has anyone had problems with these guys? If so, what can i do to reclain my yard without hurting them...

I wish I could help, but I don't have any advice .... the only thing I can think of is this funny story. When I was in middle school my dad lived in this house in the woods. I can't tell you how many pairs of flip flops he would go through in the summer.... The raccoons would come in the middle of the night and steal them. HILARIOUS!!! You think he would learn his lesson after the first time :)

I am glad your talking about an animal... We have a VERY different meaning to the word "coon" here in australia, very unflattering...
Hope you manage to find a humane way of removing them.

If you live on base isn't there someone in the military that can take care of that. If not you would have to live trap them and transport them else where.

we are on a 25lb limit for a dog, as for any kits, i have not seen any.... like i said, the first one, was just curious did not go beyond the fence... and now they are coming right up to the door....

hey why dont u get a dog or something..that might help scare them away..maybe the coons are looking for food.if they come out during the day u have a big problem to worry about.
