Soo...an interesting check up today. I was complaining this morning to some of you about feeling like this pregnancy will never end...and how i wish i could get checked like everyone else does to see what my cervix is saying and what not. Well...i got checked alright! and it was the worst feeling in the world. My midwife said she was going to check to see how open my cervix is and to stretch and sweep it to kinda kick start this whole process. So i take my deep breath in and let her do her thing...she said his head is REALLY low...thats all she was feeling, and she was having a hard time finding my cervix she said it was positioned behind his head..then she found it to the left side and when she found it....i tensed and starting breathing like i was in labour...she said that she couldn't get to see how many cms i've dilated because it was so hard to get to the cervix. She said she was getting one fingertip in but it was just hard because of the position. She said i'm roughly 30% effaced...it was very soft and spongy...and to take that as a good sign. She said his head being so low makes her think that by next week things will have progressed, and if i don't go into labour before then she will check me again and try to stretch me more. She told me to start taking evening primrose oil, and doing other things that will help me along. Soooo...i went and bought a bottle, and will start taking them. She said sex, nipple stimulation, squatting, walking and all of that good stuff is what i should be doing, and i've for sure been doing some walking and squatting. Then she told me that she scheduled me for another ultrasound because the place i went to 2 weeks ago didn't record all the measurements they needed...so i went for another BPP today and saw lil man again...and they measured me at 40wks and 1day....they said they will leave the due date as is because boys tend to be bigger and he is fine...good movement, heartbeat, everything measuring well...he's 8lbs exactly (well i mean u/s measurements aren't completely accurate but that's what they told me) and my amniotic fluid level is normal...the tech told me that the baby's head is super low (which everyone keeps telling me...but they dont' have to because i can feel him...and it's like he's pushing his way out by himself!) she said my cervix is open...(didn't say how much..but hey) So overall it was an interesting morning...i did some more running around...got some sweat suits and big t's because i figure i will want stuff like that to wear...and here i am at home with swollen feet...spotting and cramping a bit from today's traumatic experience..lol. That's my update ladies...i'm feeling less grumpy from this morning...and i'm just looking forward to getting through with labour and meeting my son!

I'm right there with you! Dr. told me almost the same exact thing other than he says I haven't started dilating. But that the head was really low and that my cervix has started thinning. Hopefully it won't be much longer for us. Good luck to you. Hope everything goes very smoothly for you! :) I'm due June 1st. Happy Mothers Day!
