| 15-5-2008 - 39Wks...measuring 45?!?! | My mood while writing this blog:Very negative |
Yesterday was a very eventful day. I woke up around 8am with this horrible pain in my lower back on the left side. Then the cramping began. So I tried to sleep, change position and all of that and it wouldn’t go away. Then nausea took over and the diarrhea. I took a hot shower and it got worse, the cramping came more the back pain was still there and all of that. I tried to sleep it off as it came and went. Middle of the day was ok, I was just feeling grumpy and just was laying around with a few cramps here and there. Around 8pm last night, I came out of a hot shower again, and the back pain came back to my whole lower back and the cramping became stronger which was not cramping but contractions. My belly was getting rock hard, and these contractions were just coming. I walked around because lying down hurt too much and it felt better to be on my feet, it wasn’t HORRIBLE, but it was horrible…if you know what I mean, it was like a really bad period, with nausea and back pain. I kept feeling like I needed to use the toilet but when I did nothing happened except for pee. This carried on till about 11, I was confused at what I was feeling, I was trying to track the time, but it just felt like the contractions were overlapping, like they didn’t go away I would still have a lingering pain throughout and then it would come again. This being a new feeling to me, I was so unsure of everything. So I paged my midwife and spoke with her and she just asked a bunch of questions and told me that it sounds like early labour, or it could just be pre-labour. She told me to stay hydrated and to take some Gravol, so that it would help with the nausea but also make me sleepy (which I had already done because I remembered her telling me to do so in such case), as well as some Tylenol for the pain. She said my main focus should be to get some sleep because if it is early labour, it could be a long process as it is my first child and that I need my energy for active labour. She said that it may go away and blah blah, sure enough as soon as I get off the phone with her the contractions subsided, the back pain left and I got really sleepy. I fell asleep and woke up to some more nausea and contractions around 4am, that stopped and then all has been well.
So….As some of you may know I’m having a very frustrating week. I have been feeling purely negative and feeling like I will be pregnant forever! I know that I’m not that crazy because some of you experience the same feelings. I’ve been taking Evening Primrose Oil since last week…been drinking Red Raspberry Leaf tea 4 times a day…since last week. Starting to feel like I should have been taking these things since 36weeks. I’ve been squatting, walking my ass off…and NOTHING! I’m about 2 cms dilated so that is one up from last week, and 50% effaced…wow…a big whopping 20% more than last week. *being very sarcastic* My cervix is still posterior, however the midwife got a hold of it and tried bringing it forward. I had a stretch and sweep, which was more successful than last weeks attempt…and it hurt like HELL! I cried for her to stop (this coming from the girl who wants to have vaginal birth all natural!) anyways…she got to do it, but I’m disappointed in myself because I was trying to prep up for the pain since last weeks appointment, but I couldn’t, it’s so uncomfortable, and I really tried to relax and breathe…but it hurt. I’m sure she could of stretched and stripped me more if I had relaxed….So I left feeling down.
