| 19-5-2008 - It's a girl! | My mood while writing this blog:So happy...And thankful! |
Here's an email that I sent to my family and friends earlier:
Subject: Introducing PRINCESS Bubba
That's right folks: I am having a mini ME! A mini Kerri-Simone literally turned around and showed her behind (among other things) this morning. Along with the girl parts she seems to have all her fingers and toes and is growing just fine. Dapo and I are THRILLED! Just wanted to share the news.... Hope you are all doing well! Love, Kerri-Simone P.S. For those who hadn't realized, Bubba is baby's "working" name. Since we now know Bubba is a girl, she will now be referred to as Princess Bubba. Of course, this greatly distresses her father, but I think it is hilarious. And of course, her actual name will be announced when we all meet her in person. :-) |
As the note indicates, my baby girl is healthy and feisty! She was measureing at 10.4 centimeters...which is about the 10-25th percentile. Just right! She was so cute! She stuck her little bottom up in the air and showed all her business! I couldn't help but laugh! She had a cute little nose and mouth...I can't wait to hold her and snuggle her!
And most of all, she is healthy. The ultrasound was "excellent". In other words, had we not ever done the quad screen, the ultrasound would not have raised any concerns. Those damn false positives...as I have learned on this site, and from the few friends I shared my situation with, they are more frequent than you would think. And the majority of outcomes have been positive.
I did have a conversation with my doctor...I went in there prepared to give him hell! I think he sensed it coming...it was like a totally different person. He laid out an extensive plan for the next 5 months of my care, was much more encouraging. Suddenly, the test results we "ok" (as opposed to the doom and gloom he brought me last week). I told him that I expected to have more access to him and the information about baby and about my pregnancy. I acknowledged that.
So, I punked out on dumping him, but I do feel like our mission was accomplished: We are going to get the best care for Princess Bubba. :-) My husband so sweetly said, "You didn't punk out, but you did get the information you were looking for...and he did say we were free to consult another doctor if we wanted."
We should also note that the doctor tends to be much more engaged and responsive when my 6' 3" husband is sitting in the the room, not smiling. So, I will continue to bring my "muscle" with me! lol!
Anyway. I am just happy that my baby girl is healthy. I really didn't have a preference of boy or girl, but I LOVE the fact that I am getting a girl.
I just feel so incredibly blessed.
