13-6-2008 - Surprise for Grandad

My mood while writing this blog: Happy and Relaxed

So, last weekend Princess Bubba and I (and the future Uncle Eddie) flew home to suprise my dad for his 60th birthday. My mom threw him a surprise party, and Eddie and I were the special surprise guests. Needless to say, my dad didn't knmow that we were coming....AND as an added bonus, it was the first time he has seen me since Christmas. Meaning, he hasn't seen me since I've been pregnant--much less parading around with a baby bump.

It's moments like these that I wish could be bottled: My dad's face when we walked in was priceless. He was SHOCKED. I was a bit shy about walking in to a room full of most of the people I grew up with, the pastor who did my wedding, many of my dad's colleagues--none of whom have seen me pregnant--so I walked in and said, "hi, Daddy." Wow, I haven't gotten a hug like that in a long time. Seriously. He hugged me so tight...he was so happy to see me!

Later that evening, as an added bonus, we were sitting in the couch, and I said, "Hey Dad, wanna feel her kick?" And my little Princess obliged her grandfather something that she has not even done for her father: she kicked, on demand! Again, that priceless look on my dad's face. I love that for his 60th birthday, I got to give him the present of his only daughter and only grandchild cuddling next to him in the couch.
