25-7-2008 - Breathing again!

My mood while writing this blog: Phewwwww

Well.. we got a call on Monday from the Genetic Doctor who said my blood work came back and showed an elevated risk for Downs of 1/15!!! We scheduled an Amnio for the following day. It was scary. Having a needle put in your belly is not fun and being worried about it hurting the baby... UGH! The results for the Amnio take 5-10 days but there is also something called a FISH test. It only tests for Tri 13, 18 & 21 (21 is downs) but it tell you within 24-48 hours. We didnt breath for 2 days and yesterday they called to let me know we were all clear on the FISH. I think my whole office let out a huge sigh with me!!! Scary stuff but I'm so glad we can move on now and worry about stuff like what to name her. Thats another thing...we got to find out we are having a little girl :) So...it was a bad start to this week and a great end!! Its my Hubbys 40th this weekend so I am taking him to Daytona to suprise him with 8 laps round the racecourse in a Nascar. I planned it a while ago and now I know we can really enjoy it! :)

Congrats on your little girl...and her clean bill of health! :) Now you can breathe, relax and enjoy your pregnancy! Believe me, it goes by fast and you will miss it when it's over! :) Best of luck!
