11-2-2009 - I'm lucky to like my Dr. greatful, luckyMy mood while writing this blog:
greatful, lucky

I feel like all I've done this pregnancy is complain, and actually I'm very fortunate. The Bell's Palsy has almost completely cleared up, baby Logan is healthy and big, and above all, I LIKE MY DR! I generally fear/despise going to any kind of dr, especially a male dr. I don't mean to discriminate, but there are some things that women are better at then men (and of course vice versa), and being a dr. or a nurse is one of them. Women are generally more caring and nurturing, while men are more logical and clinical. I always feel like a piece of meat when I have to see a male dr... but I digress. Not only is my dr. kind and compassionate, she's incredibly smart and she doesn't make me feel stupid. When I went to her with the Bell's, she prescribed an anti-viral (that the male dr. had said I didn't need, causing my symptoms to get worse) and then called 3 other dr's while I was sitting there to make sure that she had the right dosage and all. She said she was pretty sure, she just wanted to double check. When I told her I was a vegan for this pregnancy (only a vegetarian with the last) she asked if she could keep all of the research I'd brought in, (thinking I'd need to defend my decision) because she didn't know that much about it and wanted to be informed. She also said she'd do a little research of her own, just to familiarize herself with it! Like she isn't busy enough. And she always favors the natural version of things, the less intervention the better. When they found a dot on baby Logan's heart, and DH and I were completely panicked, she reassured us that women have been having healthy babies for centuries, and babies have gotten those dots on their hearts and we never knew, and they still turned out fine. She is FANTASTIC and I am so greatful to have her help in this pregnancy.
