27-1-2010 - breast feeding help needed

I am posting the same question here and in breastfeeding and everyone's opinion is appreciated:
1. After Mason feed's, my nipples feel dry and tacky not moist or wet...Is his mouth dry and he isn't getting enough milk? 2. He only gulps for about 5 minutes and then he just kind of suckles a little, is he not getting the hind milk and just filling up on the foremilk? 3. He occassionally wants to eat every hour and sometimes every 3 hours, I find to get at least 2 hours sleep then I need to make him eat for 20 plus minutes per breast. However, I am not sure if the majority of this time he is not just using me as a pacifier. He is having enough pee and poop diapers now. Should I always hear gulping or sucking noises if he is actively getting milk? 3. How long does it take for me to build up enough milk for a new let down? I am afraid if I pump, then I won't have enough milk to feed him when he is hungry. 4. Sometimes he crys and only really plays with the nipple and I have to move him around and change his diaper and so forth to get him to latch, is he not hungry and I am forcing it on him at this point? I have no idea what a "I'm hungry cry" is? 5. How do I know if I am over feeding him? 6. In order to get him on a schedule (I start back to work part time tomorrow,) if he wants to eat early, do I make him wait until at least 2 or 2 1/2 hours between feedings? What if he wakes up after sleeping 30 minutes, am I wrong and messing up scheduling possibilites if I offer him the boob? 7. My boobs no longer leak since he started latching, is this a sign that I am no longer produing as much? This motherhood and nursing is hard work. Thanks ladies.

ok i am gonna try to answer these in order my nipples didnt get wet at first either if they are even kinda hurting buy lanisol (brand) lanisol ointment for breast feeding moms you kind find it at walmat okk i have learned this alot especially now that Matthis is feeding they only need a few good sucks for milk to start flowing out then he can just sucle so he can take what he want as it trickles into his mouth opposed to squirtingunfortunetlly i dont believe schedules wk i mean i dont wanna eat if someone is making me either :)oky so as long as he is having good diapers you no pee and kaki then your good he is eating find as long as he has gained weight your fine breastfed babies can not be overfed shoot look how chunky my baby is gosh as far as let downs normally i let down in one breast while he feeds on another it may not be strong but if he feeds on one and you leak on the other your leeting down :)as far as noises while eating idk about that i dont hear too many either lol and the pumping i would pump when he feeds onone breast pump the other and while at wk try to pump whenever he would eating every one-3 hrs ok i say feed him when he is hungry you cant over feed him so dont think that but you dont want to deprive im of food thats like telling a blind man he cant feel around with his hands its notonly nature to them but it soothes them okay now as far as him playing with you thats fine Matthis still does it he will play with my nipple and throw little licks at it while laughing its the cutest thing youll learn to love it promise, soo yea maybe he is just happy to be there at your boob any for sure when he is hungry he will definitley eat, when i hadnt learned his cries yet i would do it in order change is position (maybe he is uncomfy) then change his diaper then try feeding then sleeping and it usually always went in that order too soo you never know Matthis hunger cry is so distinctive only when hungry does he go ooo ooo ooo like a little monkey roo :) hope this help be confident that your body wil provide what your child needs !!! ;)ohh and your boobs are suposed to stop leaking once your body figures out how much milk to producedude seriouslly calll you local WIC office they give you breast feeding support with a lactationist for free you dont even have to have wic you can even attend support groups and get all your questions answered :)

he will ONLY eat if he wants food! You could have over active letdown...google it! my son is 5 months old and fully bf...when ihe is tried he will used bf as a paci. call your local hospital and ask if they have a bf dept. if so they let you come in and do a feed and weigh...they weight before, then you feed, then they weight again!
