I read an article that said people in my area book daycare before they are even pregnant. I went into panic mode because I am already 19weeks. I decided I didn't want to go to a high priced daycare center because I saw a special on t.v. that these providers sometimes drug your kid with baby tylonal so they don't have to bother with him/her all day. So I started asking around and thinking of people that I have met that are daycare providers. I remembered a lady I met that came into my office that ran a day care out of her home. I contacted her and interviewed her today. I used the following questions and thought I would share them as I had to collect them from friends and the Internet:

1. How long have you been babysitting?

2. ask for references...at least 3.....but both professional and personal

3. ask her what type of experience does she has with infants since they require special care

4. ask her if there are outside situations which would cause her to call

out....medical...outside activities etc...

5. do a background check

6. How are bottles and formula stored? If I bring my own bottles, will he only use those?

7. Are babies held during feeding?

8. Are babies out of the crib when awake?

9. Is the facility licensed?

10. How often are smoke detectors checked?

11. How often are changing tables disinfected?

12. Will my baby have his or her own bed?

13. Are there monitors and is he checked for breathing while asleep?

14. Will my child be disciplined for any reason? When he is older, what forms of discipline are used?

15. Are there animals?

16. How are the animals disciplined? (It is important to me that the baby not see animals spanked or learn it is ok to mistreat them)

16. Are there quiet areas for baby to sit and observe?

17. Will you keep the schedule for sleep and eating the same?

18. Are there any helpers?

19. Are the little ones ever left with the bigger ones or left unattended?

20. Do the children watch soap opera’s

21. How is the cleanliness of the kitchen?

22. Is sunscreen used and is the yard treated?

23. What stimulating activities are available for babies?

24. Are the children ever driven anywhere and if so what does she drive?

25. Are you infant certified in CPR and first aid?

26. Do you agree not to feed my child anything or administer anything (medicine) to him without my prior approval?

27. Do you warn parents if another child is sick or has been notified that they have been in contact with lice?

28. What do you do to stimulate my child’s development and what age appropriate activities does he get? How often will he be held?

this is so awesome that your getting i all figured out now. cause the more i think about it it would be better to do b4 hand so that you arent bringing the baby along with you or having him with someone else while interviewing these people good idea
